Job Title: Project Scheduler

Location: North York, ON (Hybrid)


 
3.0 Summary of Scope of Work
Providing scheduling services and assisting with planning for assigned projects. This involves:
  • Baselining program and project plans to identify, develop, and implement benchmarking data, for the measurement and analysis of variances and root causes.
  • Developing and maintaining the Master Project Schedule; planning, coordinating, and monitoring scheduling activities (both performance to date and planned schedule activities).
  • Attending design and construction review meetings and contributing to the design and construction process, including timing, sequencing and staging of construct.
  • Performing critical path/what-if/variance analysis and earned value management.
  • Reporting schedule variances and recommending corrective action.
  • Implementing project interface management through schedule updates and reporting.
  • Developing, maintaining and evaluating the pre-construction schedule and supporting project management/construction team to review schedule submittals including Contract Baseline Schedule (CBS), Monthly Updated Schedule (MUS), Recovery Schedule, and Count-down Schedule.
  • Supporting the preparation of Group and Department reports.
  • Communicating with project management team and other staff, to ensure adherence to planning and scheduling policies, procedures, and guidelines.

Skills/Knowledge/Experience
 

  • Proficient in scheduling software (Primavera P6, MS Project, etc.)
  • Advanced level knowledge of the Primavera P6 and MS Project
  • Strong planning, time management, and problem-solving abilities
  • Effective communication and coordination with stakeholders
  • Detail-oriented with strong data analysis capabilities
  • Construction methods and project sequencing
  • Contractual terms and scheduling clauses
  • Earned Value Management (EVM) and safety standards
  • 5–7+ years in EPC and construction scheduling
  • Site experience and collaboration with field teams
  • Baseline schedule creation and regular updates
  • Delay analysis and claims preparation
  • Hands-on experience with reviewing technical documents (drawings, design basis, schedules and estimates) for the purpose of understanding the project scope and development of the detailed schedule with resources and costs
  • Experience across various construction sectors (Rail, Transit and civil, infrastructure)
  • In-depth knowledge of planning and scheduling principles, methods, procedures, and tools; good understanding of integration between costs, schedule and scope.
  • Practical experience related to planning and scheduling through the end-to-end project lifecycle, from project initiation, planning, executing, controlling, monitoring to closing.
  • Understanding of both project owner and project execution requirements.
  • Ability to be recognized and serve as an expert to project teams to provide technical guidance and recommendations.
  • Well-developed organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills to manage large amounts of data.
  • Ability to review and evaluate recommendations proposed by others, exercising independent judgment to ensure consistency with business goals.
  • Effective interpersonal, communication (verbal and written), and influencing skills; demonstrated ability to maintain effective and collaborative work relationships with stakeholders.
  • Strong ability to prioritize and balance competing demands in a deadline driven environment.
  • Proficient in software applications relevant to the work
  • Must have or rapidly acquire a comprehensive knowledge of the Ontario Human Rights Code and Related Orders including disability accommodation and accessibility requirements pertaining to passengers and employees.

 

Formal education/training through which skills normally acquired:
Completion of a post-secondary college diploma and/or university degree in a related technical or business discipline (e.g. engineering, construction management, project management), and progressive experience in planning and scheduling and/or project management; or a combination of education, training and experience deemed to be equivalent.
Assets:
Relevant Professional Certificates from industry leader organizations such as PMI-SP, AACE- PSP, PMP

The pay range that the employer reasonably expects to pay for this position is between CA$50.00 and CA$80.00
