Story Behind the Need
Business group: Customer Complaints Appeals Office – This team is working on an enterprise-wide effort to apply data management to existing data processes and controls.
Project: no project/BAU – The main function of the Senior Technical Business Analyst role is to support the Customer Complaints Appeals Office with the investigation, development, testing and operationalization of data solutions related to strategic goals of the Data Office. This role ensures all activities are conducted in compliance with enterprise data standards, policies, and procedures.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to collaborate with business and technology stakeholders in support of ensuring effective and efficient management of enterprise-wide data. This individual will work on critical data sets within the bank’s Legal and Corporate Affairs, Customer Complaints Appeals Office to improve data literacy and establish data capabilities such as Data Governance and Data Quality Management.
Typical Day in Role:
•Experience working in data management and can provide hands-on support on the implementation according to Data Office playbooks, guidelines, standards, and policies (e.g., documenting initiatives, use cases, data tiering and classification, critical data elements and business data elements)
•Performs any necessary data mapping and data lineage activities and documents information flows to support specific business requirements
•Performs data profiling, analyzes and communicates results in support of data quality processes
•Builds the metadata model and business glossary by gathering information from multiple sources: business users, existing data sources, databases and other relevant documents and systems
•Participates in knowledge transfer within the team, business units and provide recommendation opportunities to enhance productivity, effectiveness and operational efficiency of the business unit and/or team
•Monitors project progress by tracking activity, resolving problems, publishing progress reports and recommending actions.
•Work in an Agile mindset to accelerate the delivery of the project
•Prepares technical reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends
•Assesses, researches, analyzes, and documents project needs and outcomes by selecting the appropriate information gathering and/or modelling technique to elicit requirements
Candidate Requirements/Must Have Skills:
1) 5+ years’ experience as a Business Systems Analyst with demonstrated understanding of technical business analysis processes, frameworks with documenting processes and data flows, CDE identification and registration
2) 5+ years’ experience with data analysis (metadata, data lineage mapping, data quality, data modeling, data governance)
Nice-To-Have Skills:
1) Experience in agile project methodology and artifacts, on software/application development lifecycle in an agile fashion
2) Project Management experience
3) Familiarity with Data management tools such as Collibra/Universal Catalogue
4) Cloud platforms and related data services knowledge (e.g., Google Cloud Platform, Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services)
6) Experience with Tableau
5) Experience with Governance Console
6) FI/banking experience
Soft Skills Required:
•Detail oriented and skilled in summarizing and provides insights from complicated processes
•Self-motivated to solve problems and able to work collaboratively with other team members
•Strong oral and written communication skills and comfortable presenting to a variety of audiences
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Math, Statistics or related field
Best vs. Average Candidate
The best candidate would have strong experience working in Data Management and be familiar with Data Lineage Mapping. The ideal candidate would have a strong understanding of data concepts. The best candidate would be very excited and curious about the role and would demonstrate a commitment to learn and grow. Self-starter type who takes initiative, required minimal handholding.
The pay range that the employer reasonably expects to pay for this position is between CA$50.00 and CA$60.00
