Job Title: Senior Power Systems Engineer

Location: Toronto, ON (Hybrid)
    
Estimated Duration: 6 Months

We are seeking a driven and experienced Senior Power Systems Engineer to support a major transit infrastructure project in the Greater Toronto Area. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical expertise in traction power and power supply systems, combined with the ability to support testing, commissioning, and system verification activities across a large-scale transportation environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Apply 5–10 years of engineering experience within power systems and commissioning environments.

  • Contribute to system design reviews, integration planning, and equipment validation for rail power systems.

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure proper interface with other rail subsystems.

  • Oversee and coordinate test planning and execution in both factory and on-site environments.

  • Validate electrical and traction power systems to ensure compliance with specifications and operational requirements.

  • Lead the preparation of test reports, track non-conformances, and support resolution strategies.

  • Participate in standardization efforts for traction power and catenary design across projects.

  • Monitor project deliverables, milestones, and design documentation against schedule and budget.

  • Ensure adherence to relevant safety, commissioning, and regulatory standards, both locally and nationally.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or a related technical field.

  • Registration as a Professional Engineer in Ontario (P.Eng) is strongly preferred.

  • Prior experience with rail or transportation power systems is highly desirable.

  • Proven understanding of electrical system design principles and railway traction power architecture.

  • Knowledge of system verification and validation methodologies.

  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check.

The pay range that the employer reasonably expects to pay for this position is between CA$50.00 and CA$70.00
