For a leading construction and industrial equipment sales and rental provider in British Columbia

Location: Terrace, BC
Job Type: Permanent, Full-time 
Hybrid Option: Monday-Friday, on-site
Hours of Work: 8 hours per day, 730AM – 5PM
Start Date: August/September 2025

Our client is a leading construction and industrial equipment sales and rental provider in British Columbia, proudly serving contractors and infrastructure firms for over 50 years. Known for their reliable fleet, responsive service, and deep industry knowledge, they support large-scale projects across commercial, industrial, and civil sectors with the right gear at the right time.

Position Overview:
Reporting directly to the Regional Manager, the Area Manager will oversee daily rental operations, logistics, equipment maintenance, customer service, and team management at a high-volume branch. This role is pivotal to ensuring project-critical gear is prepped, maintained, and delivered on time to clients throughout BC.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee day-to-day operations of the rental branch, ensuring equipment availability, timely dispatch, and maintenance turnaround.
  • Lead a team of mechanics, drivers, yard technicians, and rental coordinators – ensuring safety, accountability, and performance standards are met.
  • Monitor fleet utilization and proactively plan equipment movements and maintenance cycles to maximize ROI.
  • Partner with Sales and Account Managers to meet client deadlines and exceed service expectations.
  • Manage service workflows, preventative maintenance schedules, and emergency repair prioritization.
  • Maintain accurate inventory and documentation through the rental management system.
  • Enforce all HSE (Health, Safety & Environmental) protocols and support a strong safety culture in the yard and shop.
  • Track operational KPIs and support forecasting, budgeting, and cost-control initiatives.
  • Build strong relationships with suppliers, service vendors, and logistics partners to ensure timely parts, repairs, and equipment procurement.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of leadership experience in equipment rental, construction operations, or industrial service environments.
  • Working knowledge of construction equipment (telehandlers, excavators, air compressors, electrical gear, etc.).
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize logistics, repairs, and customer demands simultaneously.
  • Understanding of inventory systems and logistics planning (experience with systems like Wynne Enterprise Renal ERP, Point of Rental, Texada, or similar is preferred).
  • Ability to interpret and apply safety regulations and equipment standards in accordance with WorkSafeBC and CSA/ANSI.

Asset's:
– Valid BC Driver’s License required; forklift or Class 3 license is a strong asset.
– Mechanically inclined or trade background is an asset.

The pay range that the employer reasonably expects to pay for this position is between CA$80,000 and CA$120,000
