Job Title: Junior Civil Engineer

Job Description:
Our client a Multi Disciplined Engineering consulting firm in Calgary, AB is looking for a Junior Civil Engineer to join their on-site construction team in Kitimat, BC. This role supports day-to-day construction execution by providing technical expertise, coordinating with contractors, and ensuring alignment with engineering standards. The successful candidate will be personable, collaborative, and comfortable working in a rotation-based site environment.
Key Responsibilities

Provide civil construction on-site technical support to project and contractor teams.

Monitor construction progress, identify issues, and complete forecast and progress reporting.

Oversee and interface with the construction contractor to ensure compliance with design and quality expectations.

Draft, review, and respond to Requests for Information (RFIs) from the construction contractor.

Prepare and issue Site Instructions as required.

Participate in project and contractor meetings; communicate progress, risks, and issues to management.

Support the management team with technical input and direction during execution.

Ensure work aligns with engineering specifications, codes, and safety requirements.
Technical Competencies

Strong understanding of earthworks, grading, and civil site development.

Experience with concrete foundation work, including quality checks and design interpretation.

Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and construction documents.

Strong reporting and communication skills—both written and verbal.

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

Scheduling and construction execution planning experience (nice to have).
Qualifications
-
Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering.
- Registered as an EIT
- 3+ years of civil engineering experience in construction, field engineering, or site execution roles.

Willingness and ability to work a 2 weeks on / 2 weeks off rotation schedule.

Strong interpersonal skills—comfortable working in a front-facing, collaborative environment with contractors and project stakeholders.
The pay range that the employer reasonably expects to pay for this position is between CA$50.00 and CA$65.00
