Position: Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) Technician

Overview

Our client is seeking an experienced Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) Technician to support inspection and quality assurance operations for aerospace components and composite materials. The NDT Technician will perform and interpret Magnetic Particle (MT), Fluorescent Penetrant (PT), Ultrasonic (UT), and Eddy Current (ET) inspections in accordance with national and aerospace standards to ensure product integrity and compliance with safety requirements.


Key Responsibilities

  • Perform MT, PT, UT, and ET inspections in accordance with approved procedures, codes, and specifications.

  • Conduct tests to identify defects, cracks, or discontinuities in metals and composites.

  • Evaluate and interpret inspection results; document findings and prepare Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) when necessary.

  • Set up, calibrate, and verify NDT equipment prior to testing.

  • Maintain accurate records of all testing performed and ensure traceability of results.

  • Collaborate with Repair and Overhaul teams to address findings and support root-cause investigations.

  • Ensure compliance with CGSB, NAS 410, and internal aerospace quality standards.

  • Depending on certification level:

  • Level 1: Perform inspections under direct supervision of Level 2 or 3 technicians.

  • Level 2: Execute approved inspection techniques, interpret results, and make pass/fail determinations. May supervise Level 1 technicians.

  • Level 3: Develop, approve, and validate new testing techniques and written instructions. Provide technical guidance, audits, and oversight for Level 1 and 2 technicians.


Qualifications

  • Canadian General Standards Board (CGSB) certification in Magnetic Particle (MT) and/or Ultrasonic Testing (UT) required (Level 2 or Level 3 preferred).

  • NAS 410 certification or equivalency considered a strong asset (aerospace industry standard).

  • Minimum practical experience requirements:

  • Level 2: 2,000 hours in Ultrasonic (UT) or Eddy Current (ET) testing methods

  • Level 3: 5,000 hours in Ultrasonic (UT) or Eddy Current (ET) testing methods

  • 3,000 hours in Magnetic Particle (MT) or Fluorescent Penetrant (PT) inspection

  • Strong understanding of analytical electronic equipment and NDT instrumentation.

  • Proven ability to interpret complex inspection codes, standards, and specifications.

  • Excellent attention to detail, communication skills, and technical judgment.

  • Ability to work independently while maintaining strict quality and safety standards.

  • Annual vision examination and recurrent qualification per CGSB/NAS standards required.

  • Proficiency in GSuite or equivalent digital documentation tools.

  • Bilingualism (French/English) considered an asset.

  • The pay range that the employer reasonably expects to pay for this position is between CA$80,000 and CA$90,000
