Senior Platform Specialist – Network Services

(F5 Load Balancing and Application Delivery Focus)

What you will do
The Sr Platform Specialist for Network Services provides advanced engineering expertise across the enterprise load balancing and application delivery platforms. This role focuses on F5 technologies including LTM, GTM or DNS, WAF, and related application delivery functions that support hybrid data centers, cloud workloads, and distributed business operations. The specialist ensures that application traffic is delivered securely, efficiently, and reliably while contributing to automation, observability, and value engineering initiatives across the Network Services organization.
Key Responsibilities
F5 Engineering and Application Delivery
              • Design, deploy, and support F5 LTM, GTM or DNS, and WAF services for internal and customer facing applications.
              • Build and maintain iRules, traffic policies, and profiles that support performance, security, and availability requirements.
              • Collaborate with application, cloud, and platform teams to design load balancing solutions for new and existing services.
              • Maintain configuration baselines and documentation to ensure consistent and predictable application delivery.

Operations and Continuous Improvement
              • Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues involving load balancing, SSL termination, WAF policies, global load balancing, and application traffic flows.
              • Conduct regular evaluations of F5 configurations to optimize performance and remove unnecessary complexity.
              • Support migration and modernization efforts related to application delivery platforms, including cloud integrations.
              • Deliver clear operational playbooks and process improvements to reduce risk and increase reliability.

Automation and Scripting
              • Create and maintain Python scripts, Ansible playbooks, or other automation tools that streamline provisioning, configuration, and validation tasks.
              • Integrate F5 platforms with monitoring, IPAM, and CI or CD systems through APIs and automation frameworks.
              • Contribute to network as code practices by developing templates and automated deployment pipelines.

Collaboration and Alignment
              • Partner with Network Services, Network Platforms, Application, and Security teams to ensure alignment of load balancing and WAF policies with broader enterprise architecture.
              • Support audit and compliance activities related to application delivery and WAF configurations.
              • Participate in evaluations of new tools and features with a focus on performance, security, cost, and operational simplicity.
What you bring
              • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field. Equivalent experience is welcome.
              • Strong hands-on experience with F5 platforms including LTM, GTM or DNS, ASM or WAF, and related modules.
              • Proven ability to design, optimize, and troubleshoot load balancing, global traffic management, SSL offload, and advanced traffic policies.
              • Experience with Python or similar scripting languages.
              • Familiarity with automation tools such as Ansible, Terraform, or similar platforms is preferred.
              • Understanding of application architectures, HTTP and TCP traffic flows, certificates, and DNS principles.
              • Strong analytical and problem solving skills with a commitment to operational excellence.
              • A mindset focused on automation, value engineering, and reliable delivery.

The pay range that the employer reasonably expects to pay for this position is between CA$64,000 and CA$106,000
