Job Title: Storage Consultant (Professional Services)
Location: Barrie (1 day per month)
Type: Contract (expected duration of 12 months)
Overview
We are seeking a Storage Consultant with strong expertise in VMware NSX-T and Veritas data protection technologies. This role will support the design, implementation, and optimization of enterprise storage, virtualization, and backup environments. The ideal candidate combines hands-on technical skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex issues across virtualized and on-prem infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, deploy, and support storage and virtualization solutions leveraging VMware NSX-T.
- Manage and administer Veritas data protection platforms including NetBackup and Backup Exec across physical, virtual, and cloud environments.
- Implement data protection strategies, including backup, recovery, replication, and retention processes.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to storage, virtualization networking, and backup operations.
- Work closely with infrastructure, network, and application teams to ensure optimal performance and availability.
- Assist in capacity planning, performance tuning, and architectural recommendations.
- Create and maintain relevant technical documentation (runbooks, diagrams, implementation guides).
Required Skills & Experience
- 3–7+ years of experience in storage, virtualization, and backup engineering/administration.
- Strong hands-on experience with VMware NSX-T (network virtualization, security policies, transport nodes, logical switching/routing).
- Proficiency with Veritas NetBackup and/or Backup Exec (backup configuration, policy management, restores, media management).
- Experience supporting storage environments in enterprise or large-scale settings.
- Solid understanding of data protection concepts: backup/restore, DR, RPO/RTO, replication, retention, and compliance.
- Strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills across compute, storage, and virtualized systems.
Nice-to-Have
- Experience with VMware vSphere, ESXi, vCenter.
- Familiarity with SAN/NAS technologies (NetApp, Dell EMC, HPE, etc.).
- Cloud exposure (AWS, Azure, GCP) for backup or storage integration.
- Certifications such as VCP-NV, VCP-DCV, Veritas Certified Specialist.
The pay range that the employer reasonably expects to pay for this position is between CA$80.00 and CA$90.00
