Role Description:
Our client is seeking a Cloud Solution Architect to join the team, reporting to the Director of Technical Solutions. This role involves collaborating with portfolio, technology, and business stakeholders to design solution architectures and technology roadmaps. The architect will define and maintain architecture artifacts, lead technical vision, and support project delivery, including hands-on development for proofs of concept.
A key focus of this role is to lead the migration of enterprise content management (ECM) systems, such as OnBase or equivalent, from on-premises infrastructure to cloud platforms including Appian and IBM Cloud Pak for Business Automation (CP4BA). The architect will leverage expertise in IBM Rules Engine products and document composition solutions like OpenText and Quadient to ensure seamless integration with ECM platforms and adherence to enterprise standards. This role involves designing secure, scalable, and compliant solutions, assessing current implementations, and driving a smooth transition with minimal business disruption.
What you will do
- Lead the architecture and migration of OnBase (or equivalent ECM) from on-premises to cloud platforms such as Appian and CP4BA.
- Define future-state ECM architecture aligned with cloud-native principles, ensuring compliance with governance, security, and regulatory standards.
- Provide hands-on leadership for proof-of-concept and pilot implementations.
- Design and facilitate solution architectures that optimize enterprise capabilities across process, technology, data, and people.
- Apply architectural standards and principles to define infrastructure requirements and ensure solution alignment.
- Maintain technical architecture in collaboration with Enterprise Architecture, supporting technology roadmaps and strategic decisions.
- Act as a key escalation point for infrastructure and development challenges, ensuring quality and consistency.
- Leverage organizational standards and architecture guiding principles to define infrastructure non-functional requirements and assure technical solution adherence to these guidelines.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency through innovative solutions and emerging technologies.
- Promote a high-performance culture within architecture and engineering teams.
- Collaborate across teams to ensure solutions are adaptable to future architectural changes.
What you will bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent experience.
- 6+ years in complex IT environments, with focus on application development and integration.
- 4+ years in cloud solution architecture and design, with strong grasp of enterprise design patterns.
- Proficient in Microservices, PaaS, and SaaS architectures; experienced in designing cloud-native solutions.
- Strong analytical skills with ability to balance big-picture thinking and detailed execution.
- Collaborative and adaptable, with experience engaging stakeholders across geographies and functions.
- Experience with OnBase or similar ECM platforms (e.g., OpenText, Documentum, Alfresco).
- Proven success in migrating ECM systems from on-premises to cloud platforms, ideally Appian and CP4BA.
- Experience implementing IBM Rules Engine products and integrating document composition solutions (OpenText, Quadient) within ECM workflows.
- Deep understanding of content lifecycle, metadata management, and document workflow automation.
- Familiar with integration patterns between ECM and business process management tools.
- Advocates for simplicity and iterative approaches aligned with Agile principles.
Assets:
- Experience with Appian and IBM CP4BA for ECM and workflow automation.
- Advanced knowledge of document composition vendors (OpenText, Quadient) and business rules management systems (IBM ODM/ADS) from an ECM perspective.
- Knowledge of hybrid cloud architectures and phased migration strategies for legacy content platforms.
- Familiarity with enterprise content search, classification, and retention in regulated environments.
- Background in financial services or similarly complex, regulated industries.
- Experience with hyperconverged infrastructure, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), automation platforms, and container technologies.
- Hands-on experience with major cloud providers (Azure, AWS, GCP) and commitment to continuous learning.
- Proficient with IaC tools such as Terraform and Ansible.
- Skilled in CI/CD tools including GitLab, Git, Jenkins, SonarQube, Nexus, and Vault.
- Architectural expertise using frameworks and modeling languages (UML, TOGAF, ArchiMate, 4+1 View Model).
- Understanding of Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban) and continuous architecture principles.
- Experience applying value stream approaches to business solution design.
