What you’ll do
The Employee Communications Advisor will lead the development and execution of strategic employee communications initiatives, partnering with cross-functional teams to identify creative, effective ways to keep Canadian Tire Corporation’s (CTC) employees informed and engaged.
Reporting to the Manager, Employee Communications, you’ll work closely with business partners, project teams, and senior leaders to design, deliver, and measure communications strategies that advance business priorities and provide guidance on best practices.
Core responsibilities
- Partner with business teams to engage and inform employees about company initiatives and updates—from True North strategy progress to new partnerships or product launches and everything in between.
- Serve as communications lead on projects, driving strategy and execution for campaigns that foster a culture of high performance and belonging.
- Provide writing, presentation, and overall communications support for leaders and project teams across multiple platforms and channels, ensuring alignment with CTC’s voice, strategic priorities, and visual identity.
- Lead story ideation and content creation for CTC’s intranet, The Angle.
- Stay current on the best practices in communications and retail to elevate team impact and reputation.
- Provide informal coaching to Employee Communications Specialists, delegating effectively to support team resourcing and development.
- Champion continuous improvement by adopting regular and effective use of digital tools (such as those within Microsoft 365 and Copilot) to boost productivity and enhance collaboration.
What you bring
- 7+ years of progressive experience in communications or public relations, with strong storytelling and content creation skills.
- Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal skills; familiarity with internal information sharing channels like SharePoint and Viva Engage.
- Ability to quickly adopt the voice of various senior leaders as well as the CTC corporate brand tone, simplifying complex ideas into clear, engaging messages for employees.
- Proven experience partnering with executives and developing integrated communications plans.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to prioritize and take quick action in a fast-paced environment.
- Strength in building authentic relationships and fostering collaboration.
- Passion for creative storytelling and content development, with strong visual communication skills (experience with PowerPoint and Canva preferred).
- A proactive, growth-oriented mindset and commitment to coaching and mentoring colleagues.
- Post-secondary education in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field.
- Experience working in or alongside corporate creative teams, content teams, and event management, particularly for marquee events, is an asset.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule as required, which may include early mornings, evenings and weekends.

The pay range that the employer reasonably expects to pay for this position is between CA$29.00 and CA$37.00
