Job Title: Cybersecurity Specialist

Location: Winnipeg, MB (Hybrid)

Estimated Duration: 18 Months

Overview

Our Clients Nuclear Subsidiary is seeking a Senior Cyber Security Specialist to provide staff-augmented professional services in support of its critical nuclear and energy infrastructure. This role is responsible for strengthening our client’s cybersecurity posture through the implementation, monitoring, and optimization of advanced security controls across on-prem and cloud environments.
This is a hands-on, operational role requiring deep technical expertise, strong incident response capabilities, and experience working in highly regulated environments. The role is onsite, full-time, and contract-based.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement, configure, and monitor advanced cybersecurity controls across cloud and on-prem environments
  • Operate and manage security monitoring and incident response, including investigation, containment, remediation, and post-incident analysis
  • Utilize tools such as Microsoft Sentinel (SIEM), Microsoft Defender, Azure security services, and Tenable One to identify and mitigate cyber threats
  • Conduct vulnerability assessments, track remediation, and report risk levels to stakeholders
  • Produce security posture metrics, dashboards, and compliance reports (e.g., Azure Secure Score)
  • Ensure alignment with NIST Cybersecurity Framework, ISO 27001/27002, and CSA standards
  • Prepare and maintain audit-ready documentation, including policies, SOPs, network diagrams, and system security plans
  • Communicate cybersecurity risks and recommendations to technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Collaborate with internal teams and contribute to a disciplined, security-focused team culture

Required Qualifications

  • University degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Security, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
  • 5+ years of hands-on cybersecurity or IT security operations experience
  • Proven experience in security monitoring and incident response
  • Strong technical experience with:
  • Microsoft Azure security
  • Microsoft Defender
  • Microsoft Sentinel (SIEM)
  • Vulnerability management platforms (e.g., Tenable One)
  • Working knowledge of PowerShell, JSON, KQL, Logic Apps, or similar scripting/query languages
  • Strong familiarity with cybersecurity frameworks and standards (NIST CSF, ISO 27001/27002, CSA)
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Eligibility to obtain and maintain Government of Canada Level II (Secret) Security Clearance

    Nice to Have / Assets

    • Experience working in utilities, energy, nuclear, or other critical infrastructure environments
    • Exposure to industrial systems, SCADA, or ICS environments
    • Relevant certifications such as:
    • CISSP
    • CISM
    • GIAC (SANS)
    • Microsoft Certified: Azure Security Engineer Associate

    Deliverables

    • Security incident investigation reports and post-incident documentation
    • Vulnerability assessment and remediation tracking reports
    • Security posture and compliance metrics and dashboards
    • Compliance documentation supporting audits and regulatory requirements
    • Updated cybersecurity artifacts (policies, SOPs, diagrams, security plans)
  • The pay range that the employer reasonably expects to pay for this position is between CA$95.00 and CA$115.00
