Job Title: Power Bi Lead
Location: Etobicoke, ON (3 days onsite)
Duration: Expected 6 month (extendable)

Role Purpose
The Power BI Lead will create and democratize the enterprise-wide Power BI operating and governance model, enabling guided self-service analytics while ensuring consistency, security, and trust in data. This role bridges business teams, the Fabric platform, and governance functions to scale adoption from 20 to 100+ creators over the next two years.

Key Responsibilities

  • Semantic Layer & Standards
    • Design and maintain certified domain semantic models (Ops, Finance, Commercial).
    • Define DAX standards, measure catalogs, and enforce naming conventions.
    • Develop and maintain Power BI design system (themes, templates, UX patterns).
  • Governance & Compliance
    • Implement workspace taxonomy and Dev/Test/Prod promotion model.
    • Define and enforce RLS/OLS patterns, sensitivity labels, and external sharing rules.
    • Work with the CAB process for production promotions; manage certification of datasets/reports.
  • Lifecycle & Automation
    • Establish ALM/CI-CD pipelines using Fabric Git integration and Tabular Editor.
    • Define testing strategy (data validation, DAX unit tests, performance, security).
    • Monitor refresh reliability and optimize model performance (Direct Lake, hybrid tables).
  • Enablement & Adoption
    • Build self-service playbook, training curriculum, and champion network.
    • Host office hours, manage Teams community, and publish adoption dashboards.
    • Drive consistent look & feel across reports and dashboards.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Expert in Power BI modeling, DAX optimization, RLS/OLS, and performance tuning.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Fabric (Lakehouse, Warehouse, Real-Time Intelligence).
  • Experience with Purview lineage, sensitivity labels, and data governance frameworks.
  • Familiarity with ALM tools (Tabular Editor, Git, deployment pipelines).
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and enablement leadership.

 

The pay range that the employer reasonably expects to pay for this position is between CA$80.00 and CA$90.00
