Our client in the public sector is seeking a Senior Project Manager to provide direction, leadership and guidance to project teams and manage the design, integration and implementation of solutions that support the organization and system initiatives including, among others:

• Project Planning and Scheduling: Develop a detailed project plan for implementing the SAP Business Data Cloud (BDC), including timelines, project scope, milestones, and resource allocation.

• Stakeholder Management: Engage divisional stakeholders project sponsors, business process owners, and OCM consultant for requirements, provide updates, and address concerns throughout the project lifecycle. Facilitate meeting to ensure alignment of project objectives.

• Resource Management: Build and manage project team including City and vendor consultants.

• Vendor Coordination: Coordinate with SAP, Systems Integrator and other third-party vendors. Address any issues or escalations with vendors.

• Documentation and Reporting: Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation, including project plans, requirements, and SMT progress reports.

• Ensure all project-related workbooks are documented and accessible for operations.

• Project Closure: Ensure all deliverables are completed and accepted by stakeholders.

• Oversee the final handover of the Business Warehouse Modernization project to operations and provide post-implementation support.

The BW Modernization Project Manager/Leader is responsible for:

Qualifications and Experience:

• A minimum of 10+ years hands-on experience managing end to end IT projects, with a strong preference for large-scale SAP BI data warehousing, analytics, or ERP implementation projects with Government jurisdictions and/or large private sector organizations

• Expertise and knowledge of SAP Data; with a strong understanding of SAP data landscapes and experience with legacy SAP BW (Business Warehouse) systems and the new features of SAP BDC (Business Data Cloud) and key components such as SAP Datasphere, SAP Analytics Cloud, BW Bridge, etc.) 

• Experience managing projects involving cloud services (SAP BTP, AWS, Azure, GCP) and integration technologies.

• Familiarity with data modeling concepts, ETL processes and data migration techniques specific to SAP environments.

• Certification in one of the following modules would be an asset; PMP, Prince 2, SAP Certified Project Manager.

• Extensive experience with traditional and innovative project management processes, techniques, tools across agile, waterfall, iterative methods associated tools 

• Knowledge and understanding of Information Management principles, concepts, policies and practices

• Project excellence spanning Governance, Definition, Planning, Project Management & Control, Financials and Close-out. 

• Strong Proficiency in project management tools (i.e. MS Project), Service & IT Service Management Tools (i.e. SNOW), and collaboration & documentation tools (MS Office suite)

• Tenacious and willing to support the team during peak volumes and workloads with various activities.

• Ability to achieve business objectives through leadership, negotiation, and effectively working with key stakeholders.

• Excellent written & verbal communication skills (comfortable & confident communicating at all levels including business partners, leadership and vendors).

• Experience managing and coordinating project monitoring, anticipates and troubleshoots issues, provides ongoing expertise, resolves problems and provides project effectiveness

• Ability to handle client relationships to manage expectations, provides updates as required, identifies potential conflicts between project and functional areas

• Ability to make recommendations on the acquisition of software, hardware, and/or technology resources

 

Deliverables

·        Detailed project schedule in MS Project, including a Gantt chart indicating key milestones, detailed multi-level work breakdown structure, resources dependencies; critical path

·        Weekly progress status reports; Weekly progress status reports shall be submitted in a City-approved format and reviewed as part of regular project governance.

·        Create and maintain project risk log, including documentation and mitigation plan for each identified risk;

·        Create and maintain project issue log including the documentation and action plan for each identified issue

·        Create and maintain milestone approvals

The BW Modernization Project Manager/Leader is responsible for: 

 

• Develops, designs and implements functional policies and programs for major business transformation and performance improvement based on City's strategic directions and business long-term needs.

• Manages, motivates and trains the unit's staff, ensuring effective teamwork, high standards of work quality and organizational performance, continuous learning and encourages innovation in others.

• Supervises the day-to-day operation of all assigned staff including the scheduling, assigning and reviewing of work. Authorizes and controls vacation and overtime requests. Monitors and evaluates staff performance, approves salary increments and recommends disciplinary action when necessary.

• Develops, recommends and administers the annual budget for the unit, and ensures that the unit's expenditures are controlled and maintained within approved budget limitations.

• Leads and manages in all stages of the project lifecycle.

• Leads and manages in the development of detailed scope requirements, budgeting, resource management, planning and scheduling, monitoring and reporting progress; managing and mitigating issues and risks; reviewing, preparing and executing change requests.

• Develops, manages and reports on detailed project plans of varying levels of complexity that make major business transformations. Leads, facilitates and contributes to the design, creation, development and sustainment of corporate standards for Technology Services, including formalized project management methodology, change management, application development and migration. 

• Manages all aspects of assigned projects, including the project charter, project plan and schedule, progress, budget, risk management, issue management, change management, resource management, quality review/best practices.

• Leads, participates in or oversees the preparation of or prepares project budgets and provides financial management such as sole source requests; contract negotiations; leasing agreements; business cases; feasibility and cost/benefit analysis.

• Oversees, participates or supports in recruitment selection, training and supervision of assigned project staff.

• Leads, participates in or oversees the preparation of or prepares and/or supervises the preparation of various formal contractual documents as required.

• Provides leadership in the evaluation, selection and recommendation of technical solutions and professional services; manages vendors and contractors in the overall solution delivery process.

• Identifies and develops cross divisional initiatives to produce synergies and economies of scale.

• Negotiates with executives and senior management, clients and various stakeholders often with competing and conflicting goals, objectives and priorities.

• Manages and administers consultant/contractors and projects/contracts, implement quality assurance/quality control procedures, authorize payments and recommends additional payments in accordance with the City's financial authority and by-laws or contract terms.

• Negotiates and documents project changes involving scope, timelines, and budget.

• Reviews, tracks, evaluates and reports on consultant and/or contractor progress, expenditures and performance to ensure adherence to project schedule, budget, scope, and contract terms.

• Adheres to the principles of the Project Management Institute (PMI) and PMI's Code of Ethics and Professional Conducts to develop and organize project protocols, procedures, relationships, and performance objectives to promote and achieve targets.

• Promotes standardization in areas relating to project administration, documentation, progress tracking and technical designs.

• Assesses and recommends scalable multi-jurisdictional business and technical solutions that meet client and business requirements in the context of corporate standards, policies and procedures for information technologies and architectures. Determines requirements, conducts research and evaluations and obtains all approvals and signoffs.

• Informs and educates senior managers, business users and technology peers on technology trends, and the effective use of business and technology solutions and information management 

The pay range that the employer reasonably expects to pay for this position is between CA$90.00 and CA$120.00
