Job Title: Robotic Programmer

Location:  St Thomas, ON (Hybrid)

Estimated Duration: 6-12 Months

Our Client, a leading casting and metal finishing company, is looking for a hands-on Robotics & PLC Programmer to join their team. This isn't an “office-only” engineering role; we need someone who can build programs offline but isn't afraid to get on the shop floor to prove them out and teach others.

The Work

You will be the technical lead for two primary automation cells:

  1. The Pouring Cell: A heavy-duty Fanuc FoundryPro robot used for ladling and pouring molten metal.

  2. The Sanding Cell: A UR20 (Universal Robot) arm used for the precision finishing and sanding of metal castings.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Offline Programming: Build out the digital environments and create programs for new and existing products (Offline software TBD).

  • Floor Validation: Get the robots running on the floor—validating, debugging, and troubleshooting until the process is seamless.

  • Training: A major goal for this role is knowledge transfer. You will be responsible for teaching an internal employee how to handle the programming and operation of these cells.

  • Process Improvement: Assist in the design of holding fixtures and cell layouts to maximize robot uptime and efficiency.

  • PLC Integration: Handle all logic and troubleshooting for the Siemens v18 controllers.

What We Are Looking For

  • Robotics Expertise: Direct experience with Fanuc (heavy payload) and Universal Robots (Cobots).

  • The Brains: Strong Siemens PLC programming skills.

  • The Ability to Teach: You need to have the patience and personality to mentor an internal team member. We aren't looking for a “lone wolf”—we need a leader who can share their skills.

  • The Personality: You’re a problem-solver who can communicate effectively with everyone from the machine operators to the plant owners.

  • Foundry Experience: You understand the environment. You’re comfortable working around molten metal, heat, and grit.

The pay range that the employer reasonably expects to pay for this position is between CA$35.00 and CA$50.00
