Job Title: Specialist, Risk Modelling & Analytics

Location: Peterborough, ON (Hybrid)

Estimated Duration: Fulltime

Business Unit Description:

Risk Management works to support the development and ongoing execution of strong Enterprise risk management programs to ensure the Company operates within its risk appetite. The Team provides leadership on all aspects of Credit risk management, Operational risk management, Market risk management, including policy development, implementation, testing and maintenance while fostering a culture of respect, trust and integrity.

 

Position Overview

The Specialist, Risk Modelling & Analytics is expected to independently perform quantitative portfolio risk analytics, support regular and ad hoc credit stress testing, provide pro-active risk assessment and analysis of emerging credit risks / early warning indicators, forecast Expected Credit Losses, design and development of new origination and portfolio management strategies and support the line of business with quality analytics.

 

Position Responsibilities (Key accountabilities)

· Maintain performance monitoring on new accounts; ensure performance aligns with expected outcomes.
· Proactively identify risk segments that are impacting portfolio performance and recommend enhancements.
· Familiar with the concept of IFRS-9 including PD and LGD. · Design and develop dashboards to track KPIs and monitor quality of new originations and total portfolio.
· Improve the portfolio’s risk-reward trade-off and recommend enhancements and optimization.
· Support the execution of enterprise stress testing that incorporates forward looking macroeconomic scenarios to support ICAAP and scenario analysis program.
· Develop analytics and insights to find opportunity for revenue growth and loss mitigation.
· Support the development of forecasting models by incorporating economic and portfolio scenarios
· Provide data and insights on all lending portfolios for senior management or external audiences, as required
· Participate as required in a variety of cross-functional teams to support corporate initiatives on digital strategies, new product launch and other high-priority initiative and projects.

ERM Specific Skills:
· Solution-focused, takes initiative ensuring self and team work effectively within established guidelines
· Effective project management and leadership capabilities to deliver on projects with minimal direction
· Able to multi-task and flourish in a fast-paced, deadline-driven work environment
· Solid knowledge predictive modelling tools such as SAS, etc.

Formal Education:

• University degree in a quantitative discipline (economics, statistics or math); Post Graduate degree is preferred

Related Experience:
• Minimum 5 years in credit risk analytics within a financial institution
• Practical knowledge of leading industry best practices in statistical modelling, especially PD and LGD models for various products.
• Practical knowledge of origination and account management strategy design.
• Data mining, segmentation and statistical model development Skills: • Excellent organizational, time-management, research/ analysis, predictive modelling and attention to detail
• Excellent written / verbal communication and professional maturity to explain complex technical concepts to business partners who are non-technical
• Proficient in SAS programming.

The pay range that the employer reasonably expects to pay for this position is between CA$90,000 and CA$110,000
