Job Title: QE Automation Lead
Location: Toronto, ON (Hybrid – 3 days/week onsite at client location)
Employment Type: expected 2 months to start (with option to renew for another 6)

Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled QE Automation Lead to drive quality engineering initiatives across our data and AI platforms. This role will focus on validating complex data pipelines, AI/LLM-powered solutions, and UI applications, while establishing strong automation foundations for the future.

You will work across Databricks-based data pipelines, cloud storage environments, AI model integrations, and modern UI platforms to ensure scalability, reliability, and performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead quality engineering efforts across data, AI, and UI platforms

  • Design and execute comprehensive test strategies, test plans, and test cases

  • Perform functional and UI testing (initially manual, with automation roadmap ownership)

  • Build and enhance automation frameworks for data and application testing

  • Validate data pipelines in Databricks, sourcing data from ADLS and S3 buckets, including structured tables and document-based datasets

  • Test integrations with Snowflake, including job creation, notebook workflows, and connectivity validation

  • Validate AI/LLM-driven workflows and agent-based Q&A systems

  • Perform performance and load testing using tools such as Locust and JMeter

  • Collaborate with engineering and product teams, tracking work effectively using Jira and Confluence

  • Work independently in a hands-on capacity while guiding quality best practices

Technical Environment

  • Databricks data pipelines

  • ADLS and Amazon S3 data sources

  • Snowflake

  • Python / PySpark / Spark

  • AI/LLM-powered agents

  • MCP servers exposing agents for Q&A

  • Cohere platform and internal UI foundations platform

  • Locust and JMeter for performance testing

Required Skills & Experience

  • Strong hands-on experience with Python, including PySpark/Spark (mandatory)

  • Proven experience testing data pipelines and distributed data systems

  • Solid background in functional testing and UI testing

  • Ability to create structured test documentation (strategy, plan, cases)

  • Experience with Databricks and Snowflake (jobs, notebooks, integrations)

  • Knowledge of LLMs and AI model validation approaches

  • Experience with performance testing tools (Locust, JMeter, or similar)

  • Proficiency using Jira and Confluence

  • Ability to work independently in a technically complex environment

Nice to Have

  • Experience with MCP servers and MCP inspectors

  • Exposure to agent-based AI systems and Q&A platforms

  • Experience building automation frameworks from scratch

The pay range that the employer reasonably expects to pay for this position is between CA$60.00 and CA$70.00
