Job Title: Technical Business Analyst – Equities Trading
Location: Toronto, ON (Hybrid – 3 days/week onsite at client location)
Employment Type: expected to run until the end of 2026
Overview
We are seeking an experienced Technical Business Analyst with deep expertise in Equities Trading to support front-office trading technology initiatives. This role will operate at the intersection of trading desks and technology teams, translating complex trading workflows into clear, structured requirements that drive system enhancements and platform evolution.
The ideal candidate has hands-on exposure to order lifecycle management, market structure, trading venues, and front-office platforms in a fast-paced trading environment.
Key Responsibilities
Trading Domain Analysis

Partner with traders, product teams, and technology stakeholders to analyze and document equities trading workflows

Map end-to-end order lifecycle processes, including order capture, routing, execution, allocation, and reporting

Analyze execution workflows, smart order routing logic, and pre-trade compliance controls

Evaluate impacts of market structure changes and venue integrations
Requirements & Documentation

Write clear, structured business requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria

Produce functional specifications and workflow diagrams

Support UAT planning, test case validation, and production rollout activities
Technical & Data Analysis

Use SQL or data analysis tools to validate data flows, troubleshoot trade lifecycle issues, and reconcile discrepancies

Analyze FIX messages (FIX 4.x preferred) and market data feeds

Work closely with OMS/EMS and integration teams to ensure accurate system behavior
Required Experience
Core Trading Expertise

Strong knowledge of Equities Trading, including:

Order lifecycle and execution workflows

Market structure and trading venues

Order types and quoting mechanisms

Pre-trade compliance rules

Hands-on experience with OMS, EMS, and Smart Order Routing systems
Technical & Analytical Skills

Proven ability to write high-quality business and functional requirements

Experience using SQL or similar tools for data validation and issue analysis

Strong understanding of FIX protocol (FIX 4.x preferred)

Familiarity with real-time market data feeds
Nice to Have

Working familiarity with FX, Fixed Income, or Commodities trading workflows

Experience in multi-asset trading environments

The pay range that the employer reasonably expects to pay for this position is between CA$65.00 and CA$70.00
