Job Title: Senior SharePoint Developer
Location: Toronto, ON  (Hybrid)
Estimated Duration: 12 Months

2-3 Days on site, Toronto, Ontario

 

1.0       Description of Assignment
The Senior SharePoint Developer will support The client’s migration from SharePoint 2016 to SharePoint Online and the redevelopment of legacy InfoPath forms using a custom SPFx-based forms framework. Key responsibilities include:

Migration & Modernization

  • Plan and execute migration of documents, sites, libraries, lists, and workflows from SharePoint 2016 to SharePoint Online using approved tools and methodologies.
  • Redesign legacy site structures to align with modern SharePoint architecture (hub sites, communication sites, metadata-driven navigation).
  • Ensure compliance with Microsoft 365 governance and security standards during migration.

Forms Redevelopment

  • Replace InfoPath forms with SPFx-based custom forms leveraging React, TypeScript, and modern UI frameworks.
  • Implement responsive, accessible, and reusable components following Microsoft best practices.

Post-Migration Optimization

  • Configure and optimize site collections for performance, usability, and maintainability.
  • Apply best practices for permissions management, content types, and metadata tagging.
  • Implement retention policies and data lifecycle management in accordance with organizational compliance requirements.

Operational Support

  • Provide Tier 2/3 support for SharePoint Online, including troubleshooting, permissions, and user training.
  • Develop documentation and knowledge transfer materials for administrators and end-users.

Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Work closely with business units to gather requirements and deliver solutions that improve productivity and collaboration.
  • Advise on governance, adoption strategies, and change management to ensure a smooth transition.

This is a hybrid role, requiring onsite work two days per week at The client Union Station East Wing, 61 Front Street West, 4th floor, Toronto, ON.
 

2.0       Skills and Certifications
Mandatory Requirements
  • Post-secondary college diploma or university degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Deep knowledge of SharePoint Online administration, including site collection management, governance, and migration from SharePoint 2016 or earlier versions.
  • Demonstrated experience developing modern solutions using SharePoint Framework (SPFx), including redevelopment of legacy InfoPath forms.
  • Proven expertise in migrating InfoPath forms and workflows to SharePoint Online or Power Platform alternatives.

Certifications

  • Microsoft certifications in Power Platform, SharePoint, Dynamics, or Azure are considered strong assets.

Technical Expertise

  • Hands-on experience with Power Apps development and Power Automate workflow design is considered an asset.
  • Advanced skills in debugging, performance tuning, and optimizing SharePoint Online and SPFx solutions for scalability and security.
  • Strong understanding of integration patterns between SharePoint Online, SPFx, and external systems (e.g., via connectors, REST APIs, or Microsoft Graph).
  • Familiarity with Microsoft 365 compliance and governance best practices, including retention policies, auditing, and DLP.

Solution Design & Research

  • Experience conducting research, providing recommendations, and implementing enhancements in SharePoint Online and Power Platform environments.
  • Ability to design modern information architecture (hub sites, metadata-driven navigation, content types) aligned with industry standards.

Operational Support

  • Substantial experience configuring SharePoint Online sites, libraries, lists, permissions, and security models.
  • Proven ability to provide Tier 2/3 operational support, including user assistance, troubleshooting, and documentation.

Soft Skills

  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.
3.0       Assignment Duties
  1. Migrating documents, sites, libraries, lists, and workflows from SharePoint 2016 to SharePoint Online.
  2. Redeveloping existing InfoPath forms in the new SPFx framework.
  3. Making post-migration adjustments to site collections, including configuration and optimization.
  4. Assisting with operational tasks such as user support, troubleshooting, and permissions management.
  5. Collaborating with stakeholders to deliver effective solutions and ensure a smooth transition.
4.0       Deliverables
  1. Migrate documents and content from SharePoint 2016 to SharePoint Online
  2. Redevelop InfoPath forms using The client custom SPFx-based forms framework
  3. Create and configure SharePoint libraries, lists, and other site components
  4. Manage site features, workflows, and the content type hub
  5. Manage users, content, and permissions in SharePoint Online
  6. Create and manage SharePoint Groups
  7. Manage permissions for site users
  8. Modify and run PowerShell scripts to provision and manage site collections
  9. Manage site content types, site columns, templates, lists, views, page content, web parts, and their connections
  10. Produce custom reports on SharePoint data and usage
  11. Collaborate with SharePoint support team, developers, architects, business analysts, and other stakeholders to deliver optimal solutions and present best practices
  12. Work with business analysts to establish new site collections/sites as per business requirements
  13. Provide SharePoint Online support for various groups

Provide operational support, including troubleshooting and resolving end user issues

 

The pay range that the employer reasonably expects to pay for this position is between CA$60.00 and CA$90.00
