Senior SAP Functional Consultant

2.0         Assignment Duties
Primary responsibilities for the Business Analyst position are varied and include the following:

  • Implements detailed plans and recommends policies and procedures regarding program specific requirements related to SAP BW to SAP Datasphere migration initiatives
  • Facilitates meetings with business stakeholders, technical teams, and vendors to determine requirements for migrated data, reports, analytics, metadata, training, service levels, data quality, and system performance
  • Analyzes existing SAP BW reports, queries, extractors, data models, and business processes to understand current state functionality and usage
  • Documents and translates business and analytical requirements into functional specifications supporting SAP Datasphere target state solutions
  • Coordinates with technical teams and external vendors to define source to target mappings, data transformation rules, reconciliation requirements, and cutover activities for BW to Datasphere migration
  • Supports vendor engagement activities, including requirements clarification, design review, issue resolution, and validation of delivered solutions
  • Identifies gaps between legacy SAP BW functionality and SAP Datasphere capabilities and recommends solutions aligned with corporate data, analytics, and architecture standards
  • Leads and contributes to the design, creation, development, and sustainment of analytics and data standards, including data modeling, metadata management, documentation standards, and change management
  • Coordinates and supports system development lifecycle activities, including migration planning, data validation, parallel testing, system testing, and user acceptance testing (UAT)
  • Ensures all required documentation is created, maintained, and approved, including business requirements documents, functional specifications, data mappings, test scenarios, reconciliation results, operational procedures, and knowledge transfer materials
  • Recommends and implements security, privacy, and quality assurance requirements consistent with the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (MFIPPA), and corporate and legislated standards regarding the storage, processing, and retention of confidential data
  • Informs and educates business users and stakeholders on changes resulting from migration initiatives, including impacts to reports, metrics, analytics, and downstream processes
  • Supports postmigration stabilization, issue resolution, vendor coordination, and continuous improvement of SAP Datasphere solutions

 

  • University degree in computer science, information systems, business, or a related discipline, and/or extensive experience working as a Business Analyst on large-scale information technology or analytics modernization initiatives, or an equivalent combination of education and hands-on experience.
  • Proven experience gathering, analyzing, and documenting business and functional requirements for enterprise data, reporting, and system migration projects,
  • with previous experience on HR and Payroll or S/4 data domains.
  • Demonstrated expertise in SAP BW and SAP Datasphere, with direct involvement in data and analytics migration activities, including the mapping of data fields and validation of legacy data to the new platform.
  • Functional knowledge of Human Resources, Payroll, and workforce data, including experience with SAP SuccessFactors, to
  • ensure accurate migration and reconciliation of sensitive employee information.
  • Experience coordinating with technical teams and external vendors throughout the design, build, testing, and deployment phases, ensuring requirements are accurately captured, clarified, and implemented.
  • Strong background in analyzing legacy SAP BW data models and reports, including hands-on validation, reconciliation, and troubleshooting of migrated datasets to support business continuity.
  • Proficiency with business analysis and documentation tools (such as O365, Excel, Visio, Jira, Confluence, etc.) to produce comprehensive business requirements, process flows, data mappings, and migration documentation.
  • In-depth knowledge of data modelling concepts, migration testing practices, data quality management, and a focus on supporting compliance and privacy requirements relevant to HR and Payroll data migration initiatives.

Additional Requirements

  • Strong analytical skills to assess complex legacy data environments and support delivery of target state analytics solutions
  • Effective communication skills to collaborate with both technical and nontechnical stakeholders during migration and change initiatives
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities concurrently in a complex transformation environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skill

4.0         Deliverables
The Consultant/Specialist shall provide, at a minimum, the following deliverables as part of this assignment:

Requirements and Analysis Deliverables

  • Business Requirements Document (BRD) detailing business, reporting, analytical, and data requirements for SAP BW to SAP Datasphere migration initiatives.
  • Functional Specifications translating approved business and analytical requirements into SAP Datasphere target-state functionality.
  • Documentation of existing SAP BW reports, queries, extractors, data models, and business processes, including analysis of current-state usage and dependencies.
  • Gap analysis outlining differences between SAP BW and SAP Datasphere capabilities and recommended remediation options.
  • Source-to-target data mapping documentation, including data transformation rules, reconciliation logic, and migration requirements.
  • Stakeholder Engagement and Coordination Deliverables
  • Requirements workshop materials, including agendas, minutes, action items, and decision logs.
  • Vendor engagement documentation, including clarification logs, design review notes, issue logs, and validation sign-offs.
  • Data Migration Deliverables
  • Comprehensive migration documentation including data mappings, metadata definitions, lineage, and data model artifacts.
  • Data reconciliation plan and results confirming accuracy and completeness of migrated HR, Payroll, and SuccessFactors data.
  • Cutover planning materials, including migration checklists, sequencing, and pre-/post-cutover validation documentation.
  • Testing Deliverables
  • Test Strategy and Test Plans covering functional, system, integration, regression, data validation, parallel testing, and UAT.
  • Test cases, test scenarios, and test scripts aligned with approved requirements and specifications.
  • Test execution results, defect logs, issue tracking, and retest verification documentation.
  • UAT coordination materials, including UAT schedule, participant instructions, support materials, and UAT sign-off packages.
  • Documentation Deliverables
  • Complete documentation package including functional specifications, data mappings, process flows, metadata documentation, and operational procedures.
  • Knowledge transfer materials for business, technical, and operational teams, including reference guides and job aids.
  • Security, Privacy, and Compliance Deliverables
  • Documentation of security, privacy, and data retention requirements in alignment with MFIPPA and corporate data governance standards.
  • Compliance recommendations and supporting materials for the handling of sensitive HR and Payroll data throughout migration activities.

The pay range that the employer reasonably expects to pay for this position is between CA$85.00 and CA$90.00
