Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Industrial Welder to support repair, maintenance, and fabrication work on heavy equipment components within their Edmonton-based shop. The role will primarily focus on welding and rebuilding high-wear components used in mining equipment, as part of ongoing equipment upgrades and maintenance programs.
This position is best suited to a welder with experience in industrial or heavy equipment environments who is comfortable working in a hands-on shop setting. The successful candidate will be responsible for welding, cutting, grinding, and preparing materials while supporting the broader repair and maintenance of equipment.
The role will initially support a specific mining-related project but will also contribute to various shop jobs as needed. Candidates who demonstrate strong performance may have the opportunity to transition into a longer-term position.
Job Responsibilities
- Perform welding repairs and fabrication on mining and heavy equipment components
- Utilize flux-core and wire feed welding processes as the primary methods of welding
- Perform occasional SMAW welding as required
- Prepare materials for welding including cutting, grinding, and fitting components
- Repair and rebuild high-wear steel components used in industrial equipment
- Support the maintenance and upgrade of equipment used in demanding mining environments
- Assist with general shop tasks including equipment preparation and assembly support
- Work collaboratively with shop leadership and other welders to complete projects efficiently
- Maintain quality workmanship and meet production expectations
- Follow all safety procedures and use required PPE while working in the shop environment
Job Qualifications
- Journeyman Welder (Red Seal) preferred or minimum 3rd-year welding apprentice
- 3+ years of industrial welding experience
- Experience with flux-core and wire feed welding processes
- Familiarity with SMAW welding
- Experience working in heavy industrial, mining, or heavy equipment environments preferred
- Experience welding wear components or heavy steel materials considered an asset
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Strong work ethic with a proactive and self-motivated approach
- Ability to work effectively within a small, team-oriented shop environment
- Must provide steel-toe boots (all other PPE and welding equipment provided)
The pay range that the employer reasonably expects to pay for this position is between CA$30.00 and CA$42.00
