Job Title: Project Control Officer (PCO)

Location: Toronto, ON (Hybrid)
Contract: 6-month contract (high likelihood of extension)


Overview

Our client, a leading Canadian financial institution, is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Project Control Officer (PCO) to support enterprise-level initiatives within a fast-paced, regulated environment.

This role will play a critical part in ensuring strong project governance, financial oversight, and reporting discipline across multiple workstreams. The ideal candidate brings a blend of project coordination, financial tracking, and tooling expertise, with a strong command of enterprise project management systems.


Key Responsibilities

Project Governance & Documentation

  • Maintain and enforce project governance standards in alignment with PMO frameworks
  • Develop and manage key project artifacts (charters, status reports, RAID logs, etc.)
  • Ensure all documentation is current, accurate, and audit-ready
  • Support internal audits and compliance requirements

Financial Management

  • Track and manage project budgets, forecasts, and actuals
  • Perform variance analysis and flag financial risks/issues
  • Support monthly financial reporting and accrual processes
  • Partner with finance teams to ensure accuracy and alignment

Project Planning & Controls

  • Support project planning, scheduling, and milestone tracking using Microsoft Project
  • Maintain and update project plans, dependencies, and critical paths
  • Monitor project performance and escalate risks or delays as needed

Reporting & Stakeholder Communication

  • Prepare executive-level status reports and presentations using PowerPoint
  • Provide clear, concise updates on project health, risks, and financials
  • Coordinate and facilitate project meetings, including minutes and action tracking

Tools & Systems Management

  • Utilize Clarity (PPM) for project tracking, financials, and resource management
  • Maintain project documentation and collaboration sites in SharePoint
  • Ensure data integrity across all project tools and reporting systems

Required Qualifications

  • 3–7+ years of experience in a Project Control Officer / Project Coordinator capacity
  • Proven experience working within large enterprise or financial services environments
  • Strong hands-on experience with:
    • Microsoft Project
    • Clarity (PPM tool)
    • SharePoint
    • PowerPoint
  • Solid understanding of project financial management (budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis)
  • Experience supporting governance and compliance-heavy projects
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills

Nice-to-Have

  • Experience working within a major Canadian bank or FI
  • Exposure to PMO frameworks and enterprise reporting standards
  • Familiarity with Agile / Waterfall hybrid environments

Soft Skills

  • Highly detail-oriented and process-driven
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
  • Proactive, with the ability to identify risks and drive follow-ups
  • Able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

The pay range that the employer reasonably expects to pay for this position is between CA$55.00 and CA$65.00
