- Use professional judgment to determine what information should be elevated, how it should be framed and when and where it should be shared, both internally and externally.
- Translate complex operational, regulatory and project-related information into clear, audience-appropriate narratives/key messages that support understanding and trust.
- Act as a trusted communications partner to internal subject-matter experts, providing advice on messaging, timing and audience considerations.
- Support communications related to operational activities, projects and regulatory matters, including construction updates, incident/severe weather response and stakeholder inquiries.
- Oversees internal communications through employee updates and leadership messaging, ensuring alignment between internal and external storytelling via several platforms (newsletter, employee town hall, company intranet and organizational announcements).
- Monitor media and emerging issues using Cision, escalating risks and recommending communications approaches as needed.
- Ensure all communications align with the Organizations brand, governance requirements and communications standards with an ability to design/edit on Adobe InDesign.
- Provide after-hours or on-call communications support, as required, during incidents or emerging issues.
Qualifications:
- Undergraduate degree in public relations, communications, journalism or a related discipline.
- Six or more years of senior experience in corporate or external communications, preferably within energy, infrastructure or another regulated industry.
- Demonstrated ability to manage issues-based communications and support media relations in high-profile or sensitive environments.
- Exceptional writing and editing skills, with experience tailoring content for multiple audiences and channels using Canadian Press style guide.
