Job Title: Gen AI Engineer
Location: 3 days onsite (airport)
Expected 6-month contract (possible extension)

About the Role
Our client is seeking a GenAI & Agentic AI Developer (Contract) to support the delivery of priority generative and agentic AI initiatives within our Enterprise Data & AI Strategy and Data & AI Workforce Activation Plan.
This role is delivery focused and hands on, with a mandate to build, configure, and operationalize governed AI agents and GenAI solutions using our client’s Microsoft first ecosystem (Copilot Studio, Azure AI Foundry, Microsoft Fabric). The successful candidate will contribute directly to MVP agent development, workforce productivity gains, and the creation of our client’s Agent Library.

This position partners closely with our client’s data scientists, engineers, product owners, and AI facilitators, operating within established architectural patterns, governance frameworks, and strategic direction.

Key Responsibilities
GenAI & Agent Delivery

  • Design, build, and deploy production ready GenAI and agentic AI solutions, with emphasis on:
    • Rapid Prototyping / delivery of functioning POC agent within 2 weeks or less
    • Microsoft Copilot Premium and Copilot Studio agents
    • Retrieval augmented generation (RAG) patterns
    • AI assisted workflow automation
  • Deliver defined MVP agents aligned to our client’s priority use cases (e.g., operational readiness, maintenance insights, data dialogue, reporting automation).
  • Implement and refine prompting strategies, tool orchestration, and agent actions within approved governance controls.

Integration & Technical Enablement

  • Integrate agents with our client’s enterprise data products, APIs, and knowledge sources hosted in Microsoft Fabric and Azure, ensuring role based access and auditability.
  • Support deployment and operationalization of GenAI solutions using existing infrastructure patterns, including monitoring and basic performance tuning.
  • Contribute reusable components, templates, and configuration patterns to our client’s growing Agent Library.

Governance & Responsible AI

  • Apply our client’s Generative AI and Agentic Governance frameworks in day to day development, including:
    • Human in the loop controls
    • Data classification and handling rules
    • Prompt and agent versioning practices
  • Surface risks, limitations, or edge cases early and work with our clients leads to address them.

Workforce Activation Support

  • Partner with AI Facilitators, Data Academy leads, and Communities of Practice to ensure solutions are usable, adoptable, and value focused.
  • Assist with rapid prototyping, demos, and iteration cycles to support workforce activation and adoption.
  • Document solution designs, agent behaviors, and usage guidance to accelerate reuse and learning.

Qualifications

  • Strong hands on experience building GenAI solutions and AI agents, ideally using:
    • Microsoft Copilot Studio
    • Azure AI Foundry or Azure OpenAI
    • PowerApps
    • Dataverse
  • Solid understanding of enterprise data platforms, APIs, and cloud solution design.
  • Working knowledge of security, privacy, and responsible AI practices in regulated environments.
  • Ability to translate business needs into working AI solutions with minimal supervision.
  • Comfortable operating in agile, cross functional delivery teams.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (and equivalent practical experience).
  • 3–5+ years of demonstrable experience delivering AI, automation, & advanced analytics solutions.
  • Demonstrated hands on GenAI or agent development experience in enterprise environments.
  • Experience with Microsoft Copilot Studio is highly preferred.

The pay range that the employer reasonably expects to pay for this position is between CA$75.00 and CA$90.00
