Senior Technical Business Analyst – Mortgage & Lending
Role Summary
We are seeking a Senior Technical Business Analyst with strong mortgage and lending domain experience to support the delivery of complex, enterprise scale technology initiatives. This role will work at the intersection of business, technology, and operations, translating mortgage business needs into clear, high quality functional and non functional requirements that enable scalable, compliant, and efficient lending experiences.
The ideal candidate brings deep experience supporting end to end mortgage journeys, is comfortable operating in ambiguity, and has a proven track record contributing to large, multi workstream technology programs within regulated financial services environments.
Key Responsibilities
Mortgage & Lending Analysis
- Analyse and document end to end mortgage and lending processes, including application intake, underwriting, decisioning, fulfillment, funding, and downstream servicing interactions.
- Translate complex lending policies, credit rules, operational procedures, and regulatory requirements into clear, actionable requirements.
- Support the design and improvement of customer , advisor , and operations facing mortgage experiences with a focus on efficiency, transparency, and scalability.
- Identify process friction points, manual hand offs, and operational inefficiencies within mortgage workflows and recommend technology enabled improvements.
Business & Stakeholder Engagement
- Collaborate with stakeholders across business, operations, risk, compliance, and technology to align solutions with lending strategies and operational goals.
- Facilitate requirements gathering workshops, design sessions, and solution reviews with diverse stakeholder groups.
- Act as a liaison between business partners, internal technology teams, and external delivery partners to ensure shared understanding and alignment.
Requirements & Solution Development
- Elicit, define, and manage functional and non functional requirements across multiple systems and integrated workflows.
- Decompose high level mortgage business needs into epics, features, user stories, acceptance criteria, and supporting documentation suitable for agile delivery.
- Support solution design by working closely with architects and engineers to ensure requirements are technically feasible and aligned to enterprise standards.
- Maintain traceability from business objectives through delivered functionality.
Delivery & Execution Support
- Support backlog refinement, prioritization, sprint planning, and ongoing requirement updates throughout the delivery lifecycle.
- Partner with QA and testing teams to ensure requirements are testable, validated, and properly reflected in test scenarios and scripts.
- Assist with defect triage and resolution by clarifying requirements and expected outcomes.
- Contribute to implementation readiness by ensuring requirements support training, operational processes, and change management needs.
Governance & Quality
- Ensure requirements and documentation meet internal quality standards, audit expectations, and regulatory obligations.
- Proactively identify risks, issues, and dependencies and escalate with recommended mitigation strategies.
- Provide clear, concise updates to delivery and leadership forums as required.
Required Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical field.
- 8–10 years of experience as a Business Analyst or Business Systems Analyst on complex technology initiatives.
- Demonstrated experience supporting mortgage, lending, credit, or closely related financial services platforms.
Mortgage & Domain Expertise
- Strong understanding of mortgage origination and lending lifecycles, including underwriting, funding, fulfillment, and servicing considerations.
- Experience working in regulated environments involving risk management, compliance, and audit stakeholders.
- Ability to interpret and operationalize lending policies and regulatory requirements into system capabilities.
Technical & Analytical Skills
- Solid understanding of systems analysis, application integration concepts, APIs, and non functional requirements (performance, scalability, resilience, security).
- Working knowledge of programming and technical concepts sufficient to understand system behavior and engage effectively with engineering teams.
- Proven ability to analyse complex processes and systems to deliver high quality, scalable solutions.
Delivery & Ways of Working
- Experience working in agile or hybrid delivery models supporting multi workstream programs.
- Strong ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously and meet aggressive delivery timelines.
- Sound judgment in selecting approaches, tools, and techniques to solve complex problems.
Communication & Collaboration
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, with the ability to engage both technical and non technical audiences.
- Strong stakeholder management skills, including the ability to influence, negotiate, and drive alignment.
- Comfortable navigating ambiguity and evolving requirements in a transformation environment.

The pay range that the employer reasonably expects to pay for this position is between CA$61.00 and CA$71.00
