NACE Level 2 Coating Inspector
Location: Cambridge, ON
Shift: Nights (4:00 PM – 2:00 AM) | 5×10 Schedule
Duration: 18-Month Contract (Potential for Extension or Full-Time Conversion)

Position Overview
We are seeking a NACE Level 2 Certified Coating Inspector to support nuclear module fabrication activities for Small Modular Reactor (SMR) projects. This role will support coating inspection activities within the paint shop environment, ensuring compliance with project specifications, internal quality programs, and nuclear standards throughout the full coating lifecycle.
The successful candidate will perform inspections on large fabricated modules, overseeing activities from initial blast profile inspection through coating application, dry film thickness (DFT) verification, documentation review, and final acceptance. This is an excellent opportunity to join a rapidly growing energy sector environment supporting critical infrastructure projects across Canada.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform coating inspections on large fabricated modules in accordance with NACE Level 2 standards and internal nuclear quality procedures
  • Conduct inspections throughout the full coating process, including:
    • Blast profile inspections
    • Surface preparation verification
    • Coating material and mix verification
    • Application inspections
    • Dry Film Thickness (DFT) measurements
    • Final coating acceptance inspections
  • Accurately complete and maintain inspection reports, quality records, and supporting documentation
  • Ensure adherence to internal nuclear coating programs, procedures, and customer specifications
  • Participate in peer reviews and quality audits as required
  • Identify non-conformances and support corrective actions when necessary
  • Maintain strong attention to detail and uphold quality standards in a fast-paced fabrication environment
  • Support compliance with CSA N299 and N690 program requirements through adherence to our internal nuclear quality systems

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Current NACE Level 2 Certification (required)
  • Previous coating inspection experience within industrial, mining, oil & gas, fabrication, heavy manufacturing, or nuclear environments
  • Understanding of coating inspection processes, surface preparation, blast profile analysis, and DFT testing
  • Strong documentation and reporting skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Willingness to work permanent night shifts (4 PM – 2 AM)
  • Ability to obtain and maintain security clearance
  • Working at Heights certification is considered an asset
  • Previous exposure to nuclear quality environments or CSA N299/N690 programs is considered an asset but not required
  • Experience inspecting large fabricated assemblies or modules is preferred

The pay range that the employer reasonably expects to pay for this position is between CA$40.00 and CA$45.00
