Contract Duration: Initial 6-month assignment with potential extensions up to 1–2 years

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Alarm Management Engineer to serve as the subject matter expert responsible for optimizing and managing alarm systems within a large-scale industrial process environment. This role will focus on improving operator effectiveness, process safety, and alarm system performance through implementation of ISA-18.2 alarm management principles and advanced Honeywell Experion functionality.

The ideal candidate will bring strong hands-on experience with Honeywell Experion PKS systems in oil & gas, LNG, petrochemical, or other heavy industrial environments, along with deep knowledge of alarm rationalization, process control systems, and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Configure, optimize, and maintain alarm settings within the Honeywell Experion platform to improve operator interface performance and system reliability
  • Implement advanced alarm management features including alarm shelving, dynamic alarm suppression, and alarm tracking functionality
  • Lead alarm rationalization initiatives in alignment with ISA-18.2 and API RP 1167 standards
  • Identify and remediate nuisance and “bad actor” alarms using alarm performance analytics tools
  • Generate and maintain weekly and monthly alarm performance reports and system health metrics
  • Coordinate alarm strategies across integrated systems including:
    • Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS)
    • PLCs
    • SCADA systems
    • Tank monitoring systems
  • Support process safety and operational excellence initiatives through effective alarm management design and implementation
  • Collaborate with operations, engineering, and maintenance teams to improve alarm system effectiveness and reduce alarm fatigue
  • Ensure alarm system configuration aligns with process safety, regulatory, and operational requirements

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, or related discipline
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with Honeywell Experion PKS in an oil & gas, LNG, petrochemical, or industrial process environment
  • Strong experience with:
    • Alarm rationalization
    • Alarm shelving
    • Dynamic alarm suppression
    • Alarm performance analysis
  • Advanced understanding of:
    • ISA-18.2
    • IEC 61511
    • API RP 1167
    • Abnormal Situation Management (ASM) principles
  • Experience integrating alarm strategies across SCADA, PLC, and SIS architectures
  • Strong knowledge of industrial process equipment such as compressors, separators, and process control systems
  • Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Honeywell Alarm Manager, DynAMo, exida SILAlarm, TiPS LogMate, or similar alarm management tools
  • LNG facility experience
  • Experience supporting large-scale process operations or pipeline systems
  • Familiarity with advanced regulatory control (ARC) strategies
  • Current and valid TWIC card preferred

The pay range that the employer in good faith reasonably expects to pay for this position is between $75.00 and $85.00
