About the Opportunity
Our client is an industry-leading software organization specializing in real-time geospatial and mission-critical systems for defence and aerospace applications worldwide. For over 30 years, they have delivered advanced technology solutions used in high-reliability, safety-critical environments.
They are currently expanding their Ottawa-based engineering team to support a major national digital air traffic modernization program (DAATS) focused on next-generation airspace management and digital tower capabilities.
What We’re Looking For
Our client is seeking a Systems & Test Engineer to join a growing Ottawa team. This is a customer-facing role supporting a complex, multi-stakeholder aerospace program involving integration of software subsystems, subcontractor coordination, and rigorous verification and validation activities.
The successful candidate will act as a key technical bridge between internal engineering teams and external stakeholders, ensuring system requirements, constraints, and delivery objectives are clearly aligned across all parties.
This is a hybrid role based in Ottawa, Ontario.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform requirements analysis, allocation, and traceability across a multi-stakeholder system
- Support requirements elicitation and derivation for subcontracted subsystems
- Collaborate on system and subsystem design reviews with internal and external stakeholders
- Prepare engineering and project planning artifacts supporting lifecycle gate reviews
- Oversee change management and ensure impacts are understood and controlled
- Lead integration of subcontracted subsystems into the overall solution
- Develop and execute comprehensive test procedures aligned to requirements
- Support Verification & Validation activities in a customer-facing environment
- Contribute to continuous improvement of systems engineering practices
What You Bring
Must-Have Experience
- 3+ years in Systems Engineering, Integration, Test, or Verification
- Engineering degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Experience delivering large, multi-team engineering programs
- Strong understanding of engineering lifecycle management (waterfall and/or agile)
- Experience managing complex requirements sets and traceability
- Experience working with subcontractors or external technical partners
- Familiarity with requirements management tools (e.g., DOORS or similar)
- Experience integrating software subsystems into larger systems
- Hands-on experience with system integration and test development
- Customer-facing experience in Verification & Validation environments
- Strong communication and coordination skills across disciplines
- Eligibility for Canadian security clearance
Nice-to-Have Experience
- Exposure to aerospace software assurance or airworthiness standards (e.g., DO-178C, DO-278A, ED-109A)
- Knowledge of air traffic control or aviation systems
- Experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools (e.g., MagicDraw)
- Experience with hardware-software integration
- Familiarity with automated testing frameworks
- Understanding of aviation or defence system environments

The pay range that the employer reasonably expects to pay for this position is between CA$89,000 and CA$130,000
