Job Overview
As the lead architect for the Life Architecture team, the Senior Solution Architect is the steward of the digital ecosystem that underpins the Life business. This role plays a pivotal part in shaping and executing the division’s technology strategy, ensuring solutions are intentional, sustainable, and aligned to business outcomes.
Embedded within the Life business unit, the Senior Solution Architect partners closely with business and delivery teams while aligning with enterprise architecture standards to drive consistency, scalability, and strategic alignment across the organization.

Job Responsibilities

  • Accountable for the development of Life company domain and application roadmaps with business and delivery stakeholders
  • Mentor and lead other architects on the Life team to ensure consistent architectural practices
  • Ensure that current state architecture models and artifacts are developed and meet standards across Business, Application, Data, and Technology domains
  • Evaluate alternative approaches and develop target state architecture models based on project objectives and requirements
  • Provide leadership and direction to delivery teams to ensure alignment with target state architecture, and adjust architecture where needed
  • Ensure solutions comply with enterprise architecture standards and principles
  • Create and maintain system and architecture design standards and provide guidance to project teams
  • Participate in conceptual and physical design, design reviews, and approve key architecture deliverables
  • Promote reuse of application services, patterns, frameworks, and standard tools
  • Collaborate with technical architects on external system integrations (e.g., service-oriented architecture, APIs, web services)
  • Develop enterprise application and technology roadmaps aligned to business and IT strategies
  • Identify and recommend continuous improvements to architecture practices
  • Evaluate vendor solutions and lead RFP evaluation processes
  • Perform other related duties as required

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience in a senior architecture role
  • 5+ years of information systems architecture experience
  • 10+ years of experience in full lifecycle solution design within medium to large enterprise environments
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, an analytical discipline, or equivalent experience
  • Experience with enterprise application integration (ESB, message brokers, APIs, web services)
  • Experience with modern application development practices (composable architecture, event-driven design, APIs)
  • Strong experience working within agile delivery environments
  • Experience modeling applications, systems, services, and data using component-based and service-oriented approaches
  • Proven expertise designing scalable, performant, and enterprise-grade solutions
  • Strong understanding of enterprise architecture frameworks
  • Ability to balance long-term strategy with short-term delivery needs
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to translate business requirements into technology solutions
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and large-scale initiatives
  • Proven leadership ability, including mentoring and guiding teams through change
  • Strong stakeholder management and negotiation skills
  • Experience delivering large-scale modernization and transformation initiatives
  • Experience implementing and integrating enterprise platforms (CRM, ERP, workflow, case management, etc.)
  • Experience working with commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) software solutions
  • Insurance industry experience is considered an asset, particularly Life Insurance

The pay range that the employer reasonably expects to pay for this position is between CA$130,000 and CA$160,000
