Department: Funding and Money Market Middle Office
Department Overview
Funding and Money Market Middle Office is part of Capital Market Middle Office and partners with the front office and other areas within client Securities globally to mitigate risk for client and our clients.
We are a Global team that is responsible for the cash management of client Securities’ external Trading bank accounts and for determining client Securities Internal funding requirements and communicating these to the appropriate funding desks.
Funding and Money Market Middle Office team communicates daily with both internal and external business groups such as various front office partners, offshore offices, and externally with Correspondent banks to meet our Service Level Agreement. In addition, this group manages confirmations, settlements and trade support process for client Securities' Money Market trading activities.
The team is heavily involved in strategic initiatives, business development, and process improvements to drive efficiency, improve client service levels, and reduce risk.

SUMMARY OF THE ROLE:

  • Manage, analyze, and direct USD dollar payments flow for main trading Nostro by utilizing various applications such as Intraday Liquidity Tool (IDL) and Liquidity Control Manager (LCM).
  • Investigate exceptional Nostro account balances under client Securities
  • Manage the Daily Funding Requirement platform and the Internal funding relationship setups with various Funding desks
  • Assist manager to approve and release daily transactions
  • Provide guidance to Junior Analysts when issue arise
  • Manage change and deal with ambiguity effectively in a rapidly changing environment
  • Identify, understand and manage risk appropriately

Specific Accountabilities and Responsibilities

  • Process transactions accurately and on time
  • Escalate processing issues where necessary to ensure a high level of service is maintained
  • Serve clients as required- adhere to Service Level Agreements and internal service delivery standards
  • Identify opportunities to improve service delivery, support process improvement initiatives

 
Accountabilities to the Shareholder:

  • Prioritize and manage own workload to meet SLA requirements for service and productivity
  • Follow firm and industry regulations and operating practices in completing and recording transactions for either the firm or clients
  • Escalate non-standard or high risk transactions or other activities as appropriate
  • Ensure documentation prepared/ completed is accurate and properly reflects client/ business intentions and is consistent with relevant rules/ regulations
  • Complete investigations- report/ escalate risk issues identified or process gaps
  • Assist in analysis, development, testing and implementation of operating and process improvements

Education/Accreditations:

  • Undergraduate degree in Economics, Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics or other discipline.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel
  • Ability to create VBA macro would be considered an asset
  • Minimum three years’ of experience in an Analytical role at a financial institution

 
MUST-HAVE Hard Skills:

  • 1 year- Relevant operations experience – either financial, big4, banking (co-op experience is okay)
  • Undergrad degree in relevant field

SOFT SKILLS:

  • Quick Learner
  • Strong communication skills
  • Work under pressure

NICE-TO-HAVE

  • Major Banking exp
  • Masters Degree

The pay range that the employer reasonably expects to pay for this position is between CA$32.00 and CA$36.00
