Job Title: Mechanical Design Engineer

Location: Kincardine, ON

Estimated Duration: 12 Months


 

Responsibilities

  • Handle a range of technical engineering activities related to system improvement, equipment modifications, design support, troubleshooting, validation, and implementation activities.
  • Work independently on assigned deliverables while coordinating with cross-functional stakeholders when needed.
  • Apply engineering judgement to resolve technical challenges and support ongoing operational requirements.
  • Support compliance with applicable industry regulations, client specifications, and internal engineering practices.
  • Contribute to technical assessments, field support activities, investigations, and engineering evaluations.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing equipment reliability, maintainability, and long-term lifecycle performance.
  • Assist with resolving emergent technical concerns identified during execution phases or through client-driven requests.
  • Support engineering documentation, reviews, calculations, and technical reporting activities.
  • Collaborate within multidisciplinary teams to meet project schedules and technical objectives.
  • Promote a strong commitment to workplace safety, quality, and operational excellence.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Mechanical, Nuclear, or related Engineering discipline.
  • Several years of relevant engineering experience within industrial, energy, utility, or regulated environments.
  • Professional Engineer designation or eligibility for registration considered an asset.
  • Familiarity with pressure boundary systems, piping design methodologies, and engineering change processes.
  • Working knowledge of applicable North American engineering and piping codes/standards.
  • Ability to interpret technical documentation, specifications, and engineering requirements.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
  • Comfortable working both independently and within collaborative technical teams.
  • Experience using engineering software, analytical tools, or technical programming environments relevant to the role.
  • Prior experience supporting nuclear, power generation, or heavy industrial facilities is beneficial.
  • Existing site access authorization or clearance eligibility considered advantageous.

Preferred Technical Exposure

  • Industrial piping and mechanical system design
  • Engineering change documentation and implementation workflows
  • Pressure-retaining component evaluations
  • Familiarity with recognized mechanical and piping code frameworks used in regulated industries

The pay range that the employer reasonably expects to pay for this position is between CA$70.00 and CA$90.00
