Job Title: Project Manager III
Location: Duluth / Minneapolis / Edina, MN areas or Houston, TX (Minnesota is the preference, with Houston least preferred)
Contract Duration: 1 year
Work Model: Mon, Tues, Thurs (in office) / Weds, Fri (from home)
Primary Focus:
As a manager of project execution this position provides overall oversight for the development, engineering, design, procurement, construction, commissioning and closeout processes for small to mid-scale CORE Electrical projects. This individual provides critical project related information to management to allow for appropriate decision making and coordinates a small team of technical staff.
Specific Accountabilities:
Accountable for project’s performance (scope, safety, quality, schedule, risk and cost) and stakeholder /end-user/client satisfaction by:
- Ensuring organizational objectives are translated into the department’s activities in collaboration with internal stakeholders (e.g. environment, safety, quality, land, legal, supply chain, etc.)
- Providing technical and business advice on the preparation and disposition of documents required for project completion
- Ensuring that engineering project scope definitions comply with all regulatory, environmental, health and safety requirements through effective management and coordination of internal functional groups
- Effectively managing project change and risk and providing regular updates to management and stakeholders
- Facilitating communication between engineering consultants, contractors, vendors and appropriate internal stakeholders to ensure technical issues are addressed in a timely manner
- Overseeing and being accountable for the specification and requisitioning of materials and equipment
- Monitoring and controlling project activities ensuring project objectives are met within financial and schedule constraints
- Providing front end project development support to Development Engineering
- Providing direction in the tender, analysis, award and administration of engineering and construction contracts
- Providing project field support during construction and commissioning activities
- Implementing consistent, thorough and timely management of project records and closeout procedures
Scope:
- Provides broad business knowledge managing capital maintenance or pipeline projects that range in size from $500K to $100MM
- Works collaboratively on varied project activities requiring a high level of planning and coordination
- Represents the enterprise by providing advice and coordination of internal projects and associated external activities (e.g., partners, consultants, contractors, vendors, public, regulators, etc.)
- Decision making is guided primarily by applying standard processes, procedures and standards
- Implements pipeline and capital maintenance solutions, by applying project management techniques and providing leadership and direction to a small team of project resources
- Provides operational support and leadership by:
- Leading and implementing continuous improvement of the enterprise’s project management/engineering systems and processes
- Providing direction and assistance to technical staff, consultants and contractors
- Applies leadership and people skills in mentoring less experienced staff
Contacts:
- Interact with Project Sponsor to ensure they are continually aware of the current project scope and are aligned with anticipate spend.
- Actively engaged in the resolution of information requests between Client subject matter experts, engineering consultants and construction contractors
- Facilitate regular communication between Client project team members, stakeholders (environment, safety, quality, land, legal, supply chain, etc.), project sponsors, consultants, contractors and regulators
- Interface with leadership of contractors and consultants to develop relationships and to provide feedback on areas of strengths and improvements to enhance their performance
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Completion of a degree or diploma in Electrical Engineering, Project Management, Pipelines, Construction or other related field
- A minimum of 7 years of progressively responsible experience that includes a minimum of 5 years project experience
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills. This includes the ability to interact effectively with project team members, peers, management and all project stakeholders
- In depth knowledge of the Project Management Institute (PMI) Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK) – Project Management Professional (PMP) certification with PMI considered an asset
- Technical and working knowledge of internal and industry pipeline and facility design, construction codes and standards (Canadian Electrical Code; National Electrical Code)
- Proven interpersonal, communication, planning, organizational, problem solving, decision-making, negotiation and leadership skills
- Proven ability to identify issues, propose solutions, make timely decisions, manage change and escalate accordingly
- Valid?Class 5 driving license with safe driving record.
The pay range that the employer in good faith reasonably expects to pay for this position is between $65.00 and $69.00
