Installation Engineering Consultant
Downtown Toronto / Remote (100% remote, occasional onsite for coordination)
Contract, part-time / variable hours, 3–6 months
About the role
Our client, a major player delivering a large-scale rail/transit infrastructure program in the Greater Toronto Area, is seeking a licensed Ontario P.Eng to act as an independent design reviewer and professional authority for installation engineering.
What you'll do
- Review installation design packages for compliance with the Ontario Electrical Safety Code (OESC), applicable CSA standards, local authority requirements, and project specs
- Provide formal engineering review/approval and affix your P.Eng seal where required
- Validate room layouts, equipment placement, cable routing (trackside and within technical rooms), and cable containment systems (tray, conduit, pathways)
- Advise design teams on regulatory expectations early in the design phase
- Identify compliance risks, design gaps, and constructability issues, with mitigation recommendations
- Ensure integration across installation, civil, and systems disciplines
- Document assumptions, deviations, and compliance justifications; maintain accountability per PEO requirements
Must have
- Active P.Eng licensed in Ontario (mandatory) — willing to stamp/seal design packages
- 8–10+ years in electrical or installation engineering on rail, transit, or infrastructure projects
- Proven design review & approval experience, with strong OESC and CSA knowledge
Nice to have
- Cable routing/containment and technical-room/wayside rail experience
- Multidisciplinary coordination (civil, systems, MEP)
- BIM/Revit, plus Bluebeam, Aconex, MS Office
The pay range that the employer reasonably expects to pay for this position is between CA$50.00 and CA$60.00
