Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Lead API Inspector to support Mechanical Integrity and Inspection programs at a major industrial facility. This role will provide technical guidance to inspection contractors and maintenance personnel while ensuring inspection quality, regulatory compliance, and adherence to industry standards.
The successful candidate will possess multiple active API certifications, strong knowledge of pressure equipment inspection, and experience with Risk-Based Inspection (RBI) programs and inspection data management systems. This position plays a critical role in maintaining the integrity and reliability of pressure vessels, piping systems, and storage tanks.
Key Responsibilities

Review inspection reports for pressure vessels, piping systems, and storage tanks to ensure data quality and compliance with applicable API codes and standards.

Support Mechanical Integrity programs through inspection planning, repair evaluations, and compliance verification.

Collaborate with maintenance teams to facilitate inspection findings, repair recommendations, and execution strategies.

Assist with the evaluation and prioritization of inspection and repair backlogs.

Validate completed repairs and ensure proper documentation is maintained.

Participate in Risk-Based Inspection (RBI) activities, including risk assessments and damage mechanism reviews.

Stay current on industry standards, inspection methodologies, and advancements in non-destructive examination (NDE) techniques.

Support the development of inspection procedures, work processes, and training materials.

Maintain accurate equipment records and inspection documentation within inspection management systems.

Organize and manage inspection records, reports, and supporting documentation.

Work closely with Engineering, Operations, Maintenance, and Management teams to support facility reliability and compliance objectives.
Required Qualifications
-
Minimum 10 years of inspection experience in industrial, refining, petrochemical, LNG, midstream, or related process facilities.

Active certification in at least two of the following:

API 510 – Pressure Vessel Inspector

API 570 – Piping Inspector
-
API 653 – Aboveground Storage Tank Inspector

API 580 – Risk-Based Inspection

Extensive knowledge of API inspection codes and Mechanical Integrity programs.

Experience inspecting pressure vessels, piping systems, and storage tanks.

Familiarity with Risk-Based Inspection (RBI) methodologies and damage mechanism reviews.

Experience utilizing inspection management software, preferably GE APM (Meridium).

Strong communication, organizational, and technical problem-solving skills.

Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

Valid TWIC card required.
Preferred Qualifications
-
Experience supporting LNG facilities or terminals.

Additional API certifications beyond the minimum requirements.

Knowledge of non-destructive examination (NDE) methods and technologies.

Experience developing inspection procedures and training programs.

Experience mentoring inspectors or providing technical leadership.

Strong understanding of equipment reliability and asset integrity management.

The pay range that the employer in good faith reasonably expects to pay for this position is between $40.00 and $43.00
