Position Summary:
Our client, a well-established and growing leader in heavy civil construction and general contracting, is seeking an experienced Superintendent to oversee field operations on remote project sites.
Reporting to the General Superintendent, this role is responsible for managing day-to-day project execution, including scheduling, workforce supervision, safety compliance, and cost control. The Superintendent will lead field teams, coordinate resources, and work closely with stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget. This role requires strong leadership, problem-solving abilities, and extensive experience in heavy civil construction environments. Camp accommodations and travel are provided.
Job Description:
- Lead, mentor, and manage Foremen, General Foremen, and field operations teams.
- Oversee daily site activities, ensuring work is executed safely, efficiently, and according to schedule.
- Manage project budgets, including labour, materials, and equipment costs.
- Review and approve daily reports, timecards, and expense submissions.
- Coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers, clients, and community stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and actively participate in safety programs and investigations.
- Resolve on-site conflicts and provide timely solutions to operational challenges.
- Monitor equipment usage and coordinate with fleet teams to ensure availability and maintenance.
- Support hiring, workforce planning, and employee development initiatives.
- Participate in inspections, project reviews, and handover processes.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 10+ years of experience in heavy civil construction.
- Proven experience in a Superintendent or senior field leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, safety regulations, and quality standards.
- Experience in mining, road construction, or large-scale infrastructure projects is considered an asset.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, teams, and project timelines.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Basic computer proficiency.
- Valid driver’s license required.
- Ability to pass a criminal background check and drug/alcohol screening.
The pay range that the employer reasonably expects to pay for this position is between CA$120,000 and CA$140,000
