Role: Infrastructure Engineer – Host & Collaboration Platforms
Location: Cambridge (4 days onsite)
Duration: Expected term to March 31st, 2027

Role Overview
The Infrastructure Engineering team is looking for a well-rounded Infrastructure Engineer who can work across a broad, integrated technology stack spanning virtualization, storage, operating systems, collaboration platforms, and emerging AI-enabled tooling. This role is not focused on a single specialty; you will balance operational support, project delivery, and continuous improvement in a fast-paced, multi-priority environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own infrastructure deliverables from concept through implementation and ongoing support for host, storage, and collaboration platforms.
  • Provide end-to-end support for VMware vSphere environments including VM provisioning, administration, troubleshooting, and integration with SimpliVity.
  • Administer and support Windows Server environments including patching, performance tuning, and advanced troubleshooting.
  • Manage and support SAN / storage platforms (HPE), including Fibre Channel connectivity, storage provisioning, capacity management, and incident resolution.
  • Support Microsoft Teams Rooms / AV environments, including Crestron-based hardware, room systems, monitoring, and modernization initiatives.
  • Provide operational support for telephony platforms (Cisco and Avaya), including VoIP and analog systems.
  • Coordinate cross-team activities and manage timelines, risks, and dependencies for infrastructure changes and projects.
  • Balance incidents, problems, and project work through strong time management and prioritization, ensuring stable operations and reliable service delivery.
  • Contribute to backup and recovery processes (e.g., Cohesity) for key platforms such as SAP, Oracle, and PostgreSQL where applicable.
  • Participate in the administration of Nutanix Prism Central and Nutanix-based infrastructure where required.
  • Collaborate on Linux (Red Hat) and Kubernetes (Nutanix Kubernetes Platform or equivalent) initiatives as part of a cross-functional team.
  • Use automation and scripting (PowerShell, Ansible) to streamline repetitive tasks, standardize configurations, and improve operational efficiency.
  • Leverage AI tools (e.g., Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT, GitHub Copilot) to assist with scripting, troubleshooting, documentation, and optimization of day-to-day operations.
  • Maintain and enhance file shares and storage platforms (e.g., CIFS/SMB, NetApp) and Microsoft 365 services (Exchange Online, licensing, identity tools) as needed.
  • Contribute to documentation, runbooks, and knowledge articles to support operational excellence and cross-team learning.

Candidate Profile

  • Broad-based infrastructure engineer, comfortable working across virtualization, storage, operating systems, collaboration, and telephony platforms rather than in a single narrow specialty.
  • Demonstrates strong learning agility and an independent learning mindset; quickly ramps up on new technologies and tools without requiring heavy direction.
  • Thrives in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities, balancing operational support, project work, and continuous improvement.
  • Shows ownership and accountability, taking work from concept through implementation and into steady-state support.
  • Self-motivated, identifies opportunities to improve stability, performance, and efficiency, and drives tasks forward with minimal oversight.
  • Exhibits leadership qualities through initiative, technical guidance to peers, and positive influence within the team.
  • Embraces automation and modern tooling, including AI-assisted workflows, to improve speed, quality, and documentation.

Experience and Qualifications

  • Several years of hands-on experience in infrastructure engineering roles spanning multiple of the following: VMware, Windows Server, storage/SAN, AV/Teams Rooms, telephony, and Microsoft 365.
  • Practical experience administering VMware vSphere and Windows Server in production environments.
  • Experience with HPE storage, Cisco/Avaya telephony, and Microsoft Teams Rooms / AV environments is highly desirable.
  • Exposure to Nutanix, Red Hat Linux, Kubernetes, and enterprise backup platforms (e.g., Cohesity) is an asset.
  • Demonstrated use of automation (PowerShell, Ansible) and AI tools (Copilot, ChatGPT, GitHub Copilot or similar) in day-to-day work is a strong differentiator.
