About the Opportunity
We're seeking an experienced Planning Manager to support one of Canada's largest transit infrastructure programs. Reporting to the Planning & Schedule Management Lead within an Integrated Program Delivery Team (IPDT), this role will play a key part in delivering planning and scheduling excellence across a complex, multidisciplinary rail program.
The successful candidate will help drive best practices, improve planning processes, and support the successful delivery of major rail infrastructure projects focused on modernization and expansion.
Key Responsibilities
Reporting into the Planning & Schedule Management Lead, responsibilities include:
- Lead the implementation of Integrated Program Delivery (IPD) planning best practices across major contracts.
- Engage project stakeholders to support the successful adoption of the IPDT delivery model.
- Develop and improve planning-related procedures, processes, standards, and training materials.
- Support organizational change associated with planning and schedule management across project teams and delivery partners.
- Review and enhance existing planning and scheduling processes to align with IPDT best practices and promote consistent, program-wide decision making.
- Assist in developing and implementing planning and scheduling requirements that projects must comply with throughout the program lifecycle.
- Provide leadership and technical oversight for planning activities across multiple projects.
- Mentor and support junior planners while remaining actively involved in planning and schedule development.
- Develop, maintain and analyze integrated project schedules using Primavera P6.
- Coordinate planning activities through engineering, procurement, construction, testing and commissioning phases.
- Support schedule reporting, forecasting, critical path analysis and progress measurement.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary stakeholders to ensure planning activities align with overall program objectives.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of project planning and scheduling experience.
- Significant experience supporting railway or transit infrastructure projects.
- Strong understanding of railway systems including electrification, signalling and train control systems.
- Advanced Primavera P6 experience.
- Experience leading or mentoring planning teams.
- Strong understanding of project lifecycle from engineering through testing, commissioning and operational readiness.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
Preferred Experience
- Major commuter rail or rapid transit programs.
- Integrated Program Delivery (IPD) environments.
- Testing and commissioning planning.
- Experience working on large, multidisciplinary infrastructure programs.
- International rail systems experience is considered an asset.
The pay range that the employer reasonably expects to pay for this position is between CA$200,000 and CA$235,000
