Job Title: Finance Analyst II
Location: Toronto, ON (Hybrid)
Estimated Duration: 15 Months

Overview of Team and Individual Responsibilities:
The Intersegment Funds Transfer Pricing (IFTP) team collaborates with multiple TBSM & Finance stakeholders to identify, quantify & determine root causes for any deviation to the Funds Transfer Pricing (FTP) framework and the resolution of structural balance sheet measurement discrepancies. The team is also responsible for creating reporting and conducting ad hoc analysis to support Corporate and Intersegment FTP initiatives.
IFTP is integral for the bank to accurately represent the true costs/benefits of our product offerings by ensuring Funds Transfer Pricing (FTP) is accurate. IFTP takes a thought leadership approach by collaborating with treasury management to identify, quantify & determine root causes for any deviation to the FTP framework and the resolution of structural balance sheet measurement discrepancies. The team is responsible for socializing findings and solutions with senior management.
The Senior Business Intelligence Analyst will be accountable for producing FTP reporting, investigating and articulating key drivers of performance while supporting complex reporting initiatives to enhance our reporting data infrastructure and increase our capabilities in delivering analytic solutions. The Senior Analyst will also investigate causes of difference between the Bank's FTP view of net interest income and financial reporting view of net interest income which represent deficiencies in the banks funds transfer pricing, interest rate risk management, foreign exchange risk management or financial reporting processes and methodologies.
 
Key Responsibilities of this position include:

  • Own the production and presentation of FTP results for Corporate products, developing portfolio expertise to explain key drivers of results.
  • Initiate investigations into actual and forecast portfolio results with tenacity and curiosity.
  • Keep abreast of changes in interest rates, producing reporting to explain movements relative to historical actual and forecast periods.
  • Develop expertise in FTP Reporting data and infrastructure to identify and implement opportunities for enhancements
  • Develop and maintain relationships with various stakeholders (Finance and other TBSM teams) which are essential in understanding trends, articulating consistent narratives, and promoting adoption of our reporting tools.
  • Leverage product expertise to raise potential FTP measurement issues and Balance Sheet Optimization opportunities.
  • Continued to improve reporting capabilities and output, including the user experience, efficiency, available information, and overall evolution of reporting views.
  • Contribute to an engaging team culture, sharing knowledge and ideas to increase treasury, banking, and reporting expertise.
  • Work across various stakeholder groups both within TBSM and across the bank to identify the cause of differences between the Bank's FTP view of net interest income and financial reporting view of net interest income, quantify the impact, propose solutions and partner with various teams to implement changes to methodologies, processes and reporting to correct for the issue identified.
  • Work on ad hoc initiatives for the IFTP team including development of enhanced analytical capabilities, driving for increased efficiency and other project related items as they occur.
  • Contribute to an engaging team culture, sharing knowledge and ideas to increase treasury, banking, and reporting expertise.

 
Specific Educational Requirements:

  • Post-secondary degree in a related field (ex. Finance, Advanced quantitative discipline, Economics)
  • CFA designation, Master's Degree considered an asset.

 
Qualifications:
Technical skills:

  • In-depth data analysis experience on large datasets and hands-on experience with data visualization (Tableau or Power BI) and data extraction (SQL)
  • Familiarity with the features and characteristics of North American retail banking products.
  • Familiarity with Funds Transfer Pricing (FTP) concepts and their application to personal and commercial mortgage, loan and deposit products.
  • Principles of treasury risk management pillars: market & interest rate risk, funding & liquidity risk, as well as capital management.

The pay range that the employer reasonably expects to pay for this position is between CA$31.00 and CA$36.00
