Job Title: Delivery Lead

Location: Toronto, ON (Hybrid)

Estimated Duration: 3 Months

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Delivery Lead / Development Lead to lead the delivery of enterprise-scale microservices and micro-application solutions within a large financial services environment. This role is focused on driving the successful execution of a strategic technology initiative, coordinating technical delivery across cross-functional teams, and ensuring projects are delivered on time and to a high standard.

The successful candidate will play a key role in enhancing an existing platform while leading the development and implementation of new features and capabilities. This is a project leadership role rather than a people management position, requiring a strong technical background in Java and Angular, experience delivering customer-facing web and mobile applications, and a solid understanding of microservices and micro-frontend (micro app) architectures.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor cross-functional development teams delivering customer-facing web and mobile applications.
  • Manage project delivery, sprint planning, resource allocation, and development timelines using Agile methodologies.
  • Collaborate with Product Managers, Business Analysts, Architects, and stakeholders to define priorities and ensure successful execution.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to development teams while remaining close to the technology.
  • Oversee the design, development, testing, and deployment of scalable applications.
  • Ensure engineering best practices, code quality, and development standards are followed.
  • Remove delivery roadblocks and proactively manage risks throughout the software development lifecycle.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives across development processes and team performance.
  • Partner with architecture teams to ensure solutions align with enterprise standards and long-term technology strategy.

Required Qualifications

  • 8+ years of software development experience with strong expertise in Java and Angular.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a Development Manager, Delivery Lead, Technical Lead, or Engineering Manager role.
  • Experience delivering customer-facing web and mobile applications in an Agile environment.
  • Strong understanding of microservices architecture and micro-frontend (micro app) architecture.
  • Experience leading distributed development teams and coordinating delivery across multiple workstreams.
  • Solid understanding of modern software development practices, CI/CD pipelines, and DevOps principles.
  • Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to balance technical decision-making with project delivery and team management.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience within the financial services or banking industry.
  • Experience working in cloud environments (AWS or Azure).
  • Familiarity with containerized applications and orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes or OpenShift.
  • Experience working with RESTful APIs and event-driven architectures.
  • Exposure to mobile application development and API integrations.

What We're Looking For

You should be comfortable leading development teams, coordinating multiple initiatives, mentoring engineers, and ensuring successful delivery of modern customer-facing digital applications built using Java, Angular, microservices, and micro-frontend architectures.
