PolicyCenter – Solution Analyst – Consolidated Job Description
Role Overview:
The Solution Analyst is a key member of the Delivery Team, responsible for solution design, requirements analysis, and quality management. This role ensures that solutions are designed, delivered, and maintained according to business and IT principles, with a strong focus on stakeholder engagement, process alignment, and measurable business value.
Core Responsibilities
1. Requirements & Solution Design

  • Facilitate and gather information from all stakeholders to design target state solutions aligned with business and IS principles (e.g., Out-of-the-Box, Data Quality).
  • Define and document functional and non-functional requirements (e.g., performance, availability).
  • Develop and update design documents in collaboration with business stakeholders, architects, and application developers.
  • Lead requirements workshops (RDW), impact analysis, and conceptual design activities.

2. Work Decomposition & Delivery Approach

  • Facilitate story mapping exercises and work decomposition workshops.
  • Define product increment approaches and create/maintain Jira work items (Epics, User Stories, Acceptance Criteria, Test Cases).
  • Conduct peer reviews of other Solution Analysts’ work items.

3. Quality Management

  • Develop overall test planning and Quality Assurance approaches, ensuring alignment with established Test Strategy.
  • Create and execute test scenarios and cases for Epics and Stories, including edge cases and regression testing.
  • Oversee test execution across all phases (Functional, Non-functional, End-to-End, Negative, Regression).
  • Report on defects and their status, ensuring all stories meet the definition of done.

4. Squad Leadership & Stakeholder Communication

  • Serve as the main communicator between the squad and external stakeholders.
  • Develop delivery plans and group work items per release.
  • Support training for front-line staff, including job aids, process documentation, and demos.
  • Provide support during the warranty period and facilitate operationalization, transferring work to sustainment/operations teams.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree or diploma in information technology, business analysis, computer science, or a related field, or equivalent experience..
  • Experience:
    • 4+ years in solution analyst roles.
    • 3+ years of hands-on Guidewire PolicyCenter configuration experience (Product Model, UI, forms, validations, rating).
  • Domain Knowledge: Insurance industry experience is required.
  • Certifications: Guidewire PolicyCenter certification preferred.

The pay range that the employer reasonably expects to pay for this position is between CA$70.00 and CA$95.00
