Job Overview
As a Senior Application Developer, you will work under minimal supervision to lead the design, implementation, and maintenance of solutions within the Varicent Incentive Compensation Management (ICM) platform. You will play a key role in the design and analysis of incentive compensation structures and take ownership of data integration and ETL processes. As a senior member of the team, you will also provide technical guidance to peers, contribute to solution architecture decisions, and uphold development standards.
Job Responsibilities
- Design Varicent ICM solutions aligning with business needs, including data models, compensation plans, workflows, and reporting structures.
- Leverage a deep understanding of Varicent platform capabilities and best practices to provide strategic recommendations to business and technical stakeholders, ensuring scalable, efficient, and maintainable incentive compensation solutions.
- Utilize Varicent development tools to build custom solutions, automate processes, and enhance incentive compensation management.
- Lead and coordinate deployment of Varicent ICM solutions, ensuring proper configuration and migration for successful implementation.
- Perform unit and functional testing against build and story acceptance criteria to ensure solution quality and reliability.
- Design and manage data integrations, applying sound practices for data encoding, encryption/decryption, and credential management.
- Prepare technical specifications from requirements and adapt to evolving tasks and responsibilities.
- Provide ongoing support, troubleshooting, and maintenance for solutions, monitoring system performance and recommending optimizations.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to team members and contribute to establishing development best practices.
- Demonstrate and present system solutions to business audiences in a clear and effective manner.
- Participate in planning activities, estimate work, and track progress of assigned tasks.
- Create, maintain, and update relevant documentation consistently.
- Follow established practices, processes, and guidelines, and keep current with relevant technologies.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Five or more years of practical application development experience, including building software using current programming languages/techniques and working with relational database systems and structured query languages.
- Expert capability in building and maintaining solutions on the Varicent Incentives (ICM) SaaS platform.
- Expert knowledge of sales performance and commission management business practices.
- Advanced knowledge of database fundamentals and query use, including relational databases, primary keys, query join types, and query optimization.
- Expert knowledge of data integrations, including data encoding, data encryption/decryption, and credential management.
- Expertise in unit and functional testing, including testing against build and story acceptance criteria.
- Detail oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify issues and take appropriate action to resolve them.
- Effective communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and concisely in a style fitting for the audience and message.
- Strong ability to work collaboratively in a team environment by making quality contributions and supporting fellow team members.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to self-manage a fluctuating workload across changing situations and priorities.
- Expertise in Agile delivery methodologies is considered an asset.
- Proven ability to demo system solutions to business audiences is considered an asset.
- Experience with Python scripting, Redwood RunMyJobs configuration & scheduling, Confluence, ServiceNow, SQL, and Scrum tools such as JIRA are considered an asset.
- Certifications in relevant technologies is considered an asset.
- Industry-specific knowledge of insurance products (group life) and the policy management lifecycle is considered an asset.
- Knowledge and experience in the insurance industry is considered an asset.
The pay range that the employer reasonably expects to pay for this position is between CA$130.00 and CA$144.00
