Project Buyer IV – Procurement / Supply Chain

Location: Houston, TX or Calgary/Edmonton, AB
Work Arrangement: Hybrid
Contract: 12 Months

We are seeking an experienced Project Buyer IV to support a large-scale capital expansion program within the energy industry. This role will lead complex procurement and sourcing activities for high-value, long-lead electrical equipment and services, working closely with project teams, suppliers, and internal Supply Chain partners.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in project procurement, strategic sourcing, commercial negotiations, and supplier management, with experience supporting major energy or infrastructure projects.

What You'll Do

  • Lead sourcing activities for complex, high-value and long-lead electrical equipment and services.
  • Develop and execute procurement strategies in partnership with Project Teams, Category Managers, and Supply Chain stakeholders.
  • Lead RFx/RFP processes, including proposal solicitation, bid evaluation, bid tabs, and supplier selection.
  • Facilitate technical and commercial clarifications with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
  • Negotiate commercial terms and support contract preparation and execution.
  • Identify opportunities for early supplier commitments to ensure equipment availability and project schedule requirements.
  • Manage procurement planning, forecasting, reporting, and project-related Supply Chain activities.
  • Support procurement risk identification and mitigation strategies.
  • Build and maintain strong supplier relationships and monitor supplier performance.
  • Collaborate with Legal, Quality, Governance, Expediting, and other Supply Chain functions.
  • Ensure procurement activities comply with company policies, procedures, and governance requirements.
  • Create and manage purchase orders using Oracle R12 or Oracle Cloud.

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related discipline, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 7+ years of procurement/supply chain experience.
  • Demonstrated experience sourcing complex electrical equipment and/or services for large capital or energy projects.
  • Strong experience with RFx development and execution, bid evaluation, supplier selection, and contract execution.
  • Proven experience negotiating complex commercial contracts and terms and conditions.
  • Strong understanding of procurement processes, contract management, and supplier relationships.
  • Experience working with ERP systems for purchase order creation, preferably Oracle R12 or Oracle Cloud.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, presentation, and stakeholder-management skills.
  • Ability to work independently while partnering effectively with cross-functional project teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 10+ years of procurement experience.
  • Experience within power, electrical transmission, natural gas, liquids, or other energy infrastructure.
  • Experience procuring large, complex, long-lead electrical equipment.
  • Experience supporting major capital expansion or infrastructure projects.
  • SCMP, CPSM, or comparable professional designation.
  • MBA or other postgraduate qualification.
  • Experience with supplier risk management, expediting, and performance management.

The pay range that the employer in good faith reasonably expects to pay for this position is between $35.00 and $41.00
