Senior Systems Developer (Data Operations)

Job Summary
We are looking for a Sr. Systems Developer to join the Data Operations team.

The Data Operations team enables the management and governance of investment related data assets to provide timely, accurate, complete and accessible data. Through our strategic and methodical approach, our team provides innovative technical solutions for users so they can make confident data driven decisions and improve data literacy. Our goal is to empower our consumers by providing lasting solutions that fit their growing needs.

What you will do:

  • Collaborate closely with product owners, business analysts, and users to understand business problems and design effective solutions.
  • Write high-quality, high-performance queries, views, and stored procedures.
  • Participate in design sessions, code reviews, and support the developers on the team.
  • Work closely with multiple users to build tailor-fit solutions.
  • Actively participate in Agile Scrum practices such as daily standups, backlog refinement, planning, and sprint retrospectives.
  • Contribute during design and planning meetings, write wiki articles, and participate in issue and team retrospectives.
  • Provide technical coaching and mentorship in collaboration with the team development lead.
  • Ask probing questions, raise awareness, and guide individuals and groups in exploring options and making decisions.
  • Design, build, and support new features while participating in issue resolution across the entire software stack.
  • Prioritize technical improvements to ensure the development of sustainable software.
  • Participate in the application support rotation schedule and scheduled maintenance activities.
  • Diagnose and resolve complex production issues spanning multiple systems and technologies.
  • Participate in the application support and scheduled maintenance.

Who you are:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent.
  • 6 + years of development experience within the data domain with exposure to vendor data onboarding and solutions
  • Experience with data operations and incident management
  • Ability to design and develop using cloud-based services (AWS preferred)
  • Strong fundamentals in system integrations (e.g., Batch processing, REST, SFTP) and workflow automation
  • Experience with ETL/ELT tools, automation, schedulers, event-based design, cloud-native solutions, source code management, and CI/CD
  • Experience with RDBMS databases (SAP Hana, SQL Server, Snowflake) as well as Scripting (PowerShell, Python, SQL and/or Bash)
  • Ability to work effectively in an agile-based team environment and help with designs, builds, operations, and deployments of various software solutions
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with an ability to take end-to-end ownership, collaborate with business and application development teams
  • Excellent knowledge of software development and enterprise design patterns
  • Experience with peer reviews and providing technical feedback
  • Continuously seeks to improve development processes, tools, and methodologies.
  • Understanding of security principles and practices
  • Ability to make strategic technical decisions that align with business goals
  • Understanding and adherence to IT governance standards and controls
  • Experience in capital markets and financial industry is an asset.
  • Experience with Automic Automation/UC4 and  business intelligence tools is an asset.

The pay range that the employer reasonably expects to pay for this position is between CA$90.00 and CA$105.00
