Measurement Engineer

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Measurement Engineer to support the design, engineering, and optimization of gas measurement facilities. This role will be responsible for selecting and sizing measurement equipment, valves, piping components, and related equipment while ensuring designs are safe, efficient, and compliant with applicable industry standards.

The ideal candidate will have strong natural gas measurement experience and be comfortable working independently in a fast-paced environment with a small engineering team supporting a large number of projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Select and size meters, control valves, relief valves, piping, fittings, and other measurement equipment

• Support the selection of gas sampling, odorization, heating, and filtration equipment

• Perform pressure drop calculations and support the design and implementation of overpressure protection systems

• Evaluate the design, installation, and operation of gas measurement facilities

• Review engineering designs for compliance with applicable codes, standards, and company requirements

• Read and interpret process flow diagrams, P&IDs, mechanical piping drawings, and equipment fabrication drawings

• Create schematics, bills of material, engineering specifications, reports, calculations, studies, and presentations

• Develop and maintain engineering, construction, and O&M standards

• Plan, schedule, and coordinate engineering work across multiple projects

• Identify opportunities to improve the safety, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness of existing designs

• Work independently while managing multiple projects and deadlines

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering

• Minimum 5 years of measurement engineering or related gas industry experience

• Strong experience with pipes, valves, fittings, and gas measurement systems

• Experience with ultrasonic and Coriolis meter technology

• Working knowledge of meter selection, sizing, and operation, including ultrasonic, Coriolis, orifice, turbine, and positive displacement meters

• Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, process flow diagrams, mechanical piping drawings, and equipment fabrication drawings

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

• Strong communication and organizational skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Bluebeam

• Must be a U.S. citizen

• Must possess a valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record

Preferred Qualifications

• Natural gas or pipeline industry experience

• Knowledge of 49 CFR Part 192

• Knowledge of ASME B31.8, AGA, API, and GPA standards

• Experience with Visio

• Experience creating and maintaining engineering and construction standards

• Experience working in a small engineering team supporting a high volume of projects

We are looking for someone who can hit the ground running, manage multiple priorities, and confidently make engineering recommendations. The ideal candidate has hands-on knowledge of gas measurement equipment and understands how piping, pressure, valves, and measurement systems work together in a gas facility.

 

The pay range that the employer in good faith reasonably expects to pay for this position is between $60.00 and $70.00
