Business Analyst III – Oil & Gas

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Business Analyst III to support cross-functional initiatives from planning through delivery within the oil and gas industry. This role will focus on business process optimization, automation, continuous improvement, and change management.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in oil and gas operations and business analysis, with the ability to work closely with business stakeholders, technical teams, and field operations to identify opportunities, translate requirements, and implement practical solutions.

This is a highly collaborative role that will require someone who can operate across Business Analysis, Project Management, and Change Management functions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with business leaders and stakeholders to elicit, translate, and prioritize business requirements.

  • Facilitate stakeholder meetings and workshops to understand business needs, priorities, constraints, and opportunities.

  • Develop and maintain business, functional, and technical requirements and manage changes to specifications.

  • Analyze and optimize business processes to improve efficiency, standardization, and operational outcomes.

  • Identify opportunities for automation, digitization, and process harmonization.

  • Translate complex technical information into clear, understandable business language.

  • Develop and maintain Power BI dashboards and reporting to track KPIs, initiative performance, and adoption metrics.

  • Support solutions utilizing Power Apps and SharePoint, including lists, forms, workflows, and document management.

  • Leverage AI tools such as Microsoft Copilot to improve analysis, documentation, and communication.

  • Assess change impacts and develop stakeholder engagement, communication, adoption, and sustainment plans.

  • Collaborate with training teams to identify training needs and support implementation and adoption.

  • Work with technical teams on system enhancements, requirements clarification, testing, and cutover readiness.

  • Support multiple initiatives across areas such as asset management, pipeline integrity, facility integrity, work management, and compliance.

  • Identify interdependencies between projects, systems, and business processes.

  • Provide project leadership and effectively influence stakeholders without direct authority.

  • Drive continuous improvement and help deliver solutions that improve safety, efficiency, and work execution.

Required Qualifications

  • 10+ years of relevant experience in the oil and gas industry.

  • Demonstrated experience supporting field operations.

  • Strong experience in business analysis and business process optimization.

  • Experience gathering, documenting, translating, and prioritizing business requirements.

  • Strong stakeholder management, facilitation, and communication skills.

  • Experience leading or supporting cross-functional projects and initiatives.

  • Ability to translate complex technical information for both technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and initiatives simultaneously.

  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.

  • Experience with project/business analysis tools such as MS Project, Visio, SharePoint, and Teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Power BI, Power Apps, and SharePoint.

  • Experience using AI tools such as Microsoft Copilot.

  • Change management experience.

  • Experience supporting process automation or digital transformation initiatives.

  • PMP certification.

  • PBA, CBAP, or similar business analysis certification.

  • Six Sigma certification.

  • Prosci or other change management certification.

  • Experience in pipeline integrity, facility integrity, asset management, work management, or compliance.

We're looking for someone who can not only gather requirements, but also identify problems, recommend improvements, lead stakeholders through change, and help deliver solutions that create measurable business value.

The pay range that the employer in good faith reasonably expects to pay for this position is between $40.00 and $45.00
