ABOUT THE ROLE
We are seeking experienced Refrigeration Rack Technicians to support a multi-site commercial refrigeration installation program across the Southern U.S. Technicians will install, start up, troubleshoot, and commission refrigeration systems for new construction projects and major remodels.
This is a traveling opportunity with a consistent project pipeline. Travel, lodging, transportation, and per diem are provided.
We are hiring at two experience levels. Candidates should apply based on their background and hands-on experience.
LEVEL I | JOURNEYMAN RACK TECHNICIAN
REQUIREMENTS
• 5+ years of commercial refrigeration experience
• Hands-on experience with multi-compressor parallel refrigeration racks
• EPA 608 Universal certification
• Experience brazing copper and steel refrigeration piping
• Experience with nitrogen purging, pressure testing, evacuation, and charging
• Ability to read refrigeration piping drawings, electrical schematics, and control diagrams
• Experience setting and verifying superheat, subcooling, EPR, and defrost
• Ability to troubleshoot and commission systems with minimal supervision
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record
• Ability and willingness to travel throughout the Southern U.S.
Preferred backgrounds include supermarket or big-box refrigeration service and installation, OEM startup crews, or contractors supporting national retail rollout programs.
LEVEL II | CO2 TRANSCRITICAL RACK TECHNICIAN
Candidates must meet the Level I requirements plus documented hands-on experience with transcritical CO2 refrigeration systems.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
• Startup, commissioning, or service experience with transcritical CO2 (R-744) booster racks
• Working knowledge of flash tank and receiver control
• Understanding of gas cooler operation and subcritical to transcritical system transitions
• Familiarity with CO2 operating pressures, relief strategies, standstill management, leak detection, and safety procedures
• Controls experience with Danfoss, Emerson E2/E3, CPC, or similar systems
Relevant backgrounds may include Hillphoenix, Hussmann, Kysor Warren, grocery chain in-house CO2 teams, industrial refrigeration, or cold storage. Industrial CO2 experience will be considered even without retail rack experience.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Install, pipe, start up, and commission multi-compressor parallel rack systems
• Install and commission remote condensers, gas coolers, condensing units, walk-in coolers and freezers, and refrigerated case lines
• Braze and pressure test copper and steel refrigeration piping
• Perform nitrogen purging, evacuation, charging, and leak testing
• Program and verify refrigeration controls
• Set and verify superheat, subcooling, EPR, and defrost settings
• Troubleshoot refrigeration systems and verify system performance
• Complete commissioning documentation and punch-list items
• Coordinate with electrical, mechanical, and general contractor trades
• Work safely in occupied stores, including after-hours cutovers
• Assist with system turnover to store operations teams
TRAVEL & SCHEDULE
• Rotating travel throughout the Southern U.S.
• Typical assignments are 2 to 3 weeks on site
• Extended work weeks, generally 50 to 60 hours
• Overtime opportunities available

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• State mechanical or refrigeration license in TX, FL, GA, LA, AL, TN, NC, or SC
• Grocery, retail, or multi-site rollout experience
• NATE, RETA CARO, or equivalent certification
• OSHA 10 or OSHA 30
• Aerial lift or scissor lift certification
• Experience leading a small installation crew
The pay range that the employer in good faith reasonably expects to pay for this position is between $42.00 and $58.00
