Job Title: 3D HVAC Modeller

About the Role:
We are seeking a skilled 3D HVAC Modeller to join our forward-thinking team working on complex marine projects. This role is ideal for an experienced professional with a passion for precision, design integration, and 3D modelling of systems on board ships. You'll play a vital role in the design, coordination, and clash-free integration of HVAC, piping, supports, and related systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- 3D Modelling & Integration: Develop and maintain detailed 3D models of HVAC systems, piping, supports, equipment foundations, and associated components for marine vessels using Cadmatic.
- HVAC Systems Knowledge: Interpret HVAC engineering drawings, specifications, and design intent. Apply engineering standards and industry best practices to produce practical, constructible, and efficient designs
- Production-Focused Design: Develop models with fabrication, installation, and production efficiency in mind. Identify constructability risks early and propose practical solutions that minimize cost, schedule impacts, and rework
- Waterfront Change (WFC): Support the Waterfront Change team by incorporating Engineering Change Requests (ECRs) and Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) into the 3D model and updating affected manufacturing drawings
- Clash Detection & Coordination: Perform clash detection and coordinate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to resolve interferences, ensuring efficient integration within the constrained spaces of marine vessels.
- Vendor & Spec Review: Review technical documentation and vendor drawings for alignment with system design and modelling standards.
- Material Take-offs: Prepare accurate material take-offs for HVAC and piping systems based on the 3D model to support procurement and fabrication activities.
- Customer & Team Collaboration: Work closely with clients, engineers, production personnel, and other disciplines to interpret project requirements, develop effective design solutions, and resolve technical or site-related issues.
- Support & Flexibility: Perform site support and adapt to additional tasks or changes as needed to meet project deadlines and quality standards.
Requirements:
- Education & Experience:
- Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience in 3D modelling and drafting
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or technical training in mechanical design and computer-aided drafting (2D/3D).
- Experience in shipbuilding and fabrication preferred
- Technical Skills:
- Strong HVAC design knowledge, including marine ventilation requirements
- Proficiency in Cadmatic (preferred), with experience in Aveva E3D, AutoCAD Plant 3D, or similar tools also considered
- Familiarity with AutoCAD, MS Office knowledge is a plus
- Understanding of classification society rules (DNV, ABS, Lloyd’s, etc.)
- Soft Skills:
- Strong attention to detail, self-driven, solution-oriented
- Excellent problem-solving, time management, and communication skills
- Fluent in English, both written and spoken
The pay range that the employer reasonably expects to pay for this position is between CA$120.00 and CA$100,000
