Agile Coach – Value Enablement & Supply Chain
The Agile Coach is a strategic servant leader and enterprise change agent with deep expertise in SAFe® (Scaled Agile Framework), enabling multiple portfolios & squads, and to deliver value predictably at scale. This role supports complex Value Enablement and Supply Chain portfolios by reinforcing SAFe principles, practices, and ceremonies while driving flow, alignment, and execution excellence.
As a trusted advisor to leaders, the Agile Coach accelerates PI Planning effectiveness, portfolio predictability, and value-stream optimization, while intentionally leveraging data, analytics, and emerging AI-enabled insights to improve decision-making, forecasting, and delivery confidence. The Agile Coach will apply systems thinking to anticipate and address how AI-enabled changes in each role affect Agile/SAFe roles, events, artifacts, and flow across the value stream. The role operates in environments characterized by high operational complexity, external vendor dependencies, and fixed delivery constraints, with accountability for improving flow, predictability, and outcomes at scale.
As a subject matter expert on Agile ways of working, this role reinforces proven practices consistently, drives alignment across squads and portfolios, and fosters a culture of agility at scale.
In addition to the core Agile Coach mandate, this role places heightened emphasis on portfolio predictability, value-stream thinking, PI planning excellence, and cross-portfolio orchestration across Value Enablement domains (including Merchandising, Product, Pricing, Promotions, and other internal digital platforms) and Supply Chain domains (including Warehousing, Transportation, Order Management, Inventory, and network or automation platforms) in environments characterized by high operational complexity, external vendor dependencies, and fixed delivery constraints. The Agile Coach is accountable for improving flow, predictability, and delivery confidence while addressing systemic impediments that limit value realization.
Primary Responsibilities
- Serve as the SAFe subject matter expert, reinforcing core SAFe principles, roles, events, and artifacts across ARTs, squads, and portfolios, including PI Planning, Inspect & Adapt, and system-level flow optimization
- Serve as the subject matter expert on Agile ways of working, accountable for consistently reinforcing proven practices across multiple squads and portfolios, including Built In Quality, Work In Process (WIP) limits, Kanban principles, and flow based delivery.
- Act as a portfolio level coach and integrator across Value Enablement and Supply Chain initiatives, ensuring alignment between business outcomes, PI objectives, and delivery execution.
- Own PI Planning end to end for supported portfolios, including readiness validation, facilitation, dependency management, and Inspect & Adapt follow through, continuously improving planning effectiveness using data driven and AI assisted insights
- Facilitate cross squad and cross portfolio alignment forums, such as PI Planning, dependency mapping, and risk and ROAM reviews, to ensure coordinated delivery and shared understanding across complex initiatives.
- Coach squads and leaders on PI Readiness, Business Value delivery, and PI Predictability, reinforcing that metrics are used as learning and improvement signals rather than performance evaluation.
- Support multiple squads and portfolios in identifying and removing impediments to enhance flow and maximize value delivery, particularly those driven by vendor dependencies, milestone based work, and operational constraints.
- Drive improvements in predictability and efficiency at scale by leveraging flow metrics, forecasting insights, PI variance trends, and emerging AI-enabled analytics to surface systemic constraints and improvement opportunities.
- Own portfolio-level progress reporting against agreed KPIs and provide clear, outcome-focused insights and storytelling to senior leadership.
- Partner with leaders to evolve portfolio-level insights and reporting, including the use of automation, AI-supported analysis, and visualization tools to improve clarity, speed, and quality of decision-making.
- Coach Directors, Senior Managers, and Product Leaders on how organizational design, policies, and leadership behaviors influence delivery outcomes and portfolio health.
- Identify systemic impediments- organizational, technical, or process-related—and actively partner with leaders to resolve them, including those surfaced through data patterns or AI-supported analysis
- Serve as the subject matter expert for Communities of Practice, fostering knowledge sharing and capability building across Scrum Masters and Agile Coaches.
Secondary Responsibilities
- Support Product and Technology leaders in exploring responsible, practical uses of AI to improve backlog readiness, forecasting accuracy, delivery insights, and operational efficiency
- Help teams balance run, sustain, and transform work while maintaining operational stability and delivery flow.
- Provide training, resources, and practical guidance on Agile, flow, and portfolio practices tailored to enterprise, platform, and operational contexts.
