Core Qualifications
- 5+ years of hands-on Appian development experience (design, process modeling, integrations)
- 7+ years of overall software engineering experience
- Strong experience integrating AI/ML solutions into enterprise applications
- Proficiency in Appian SAIL, process models, decision rules, and integrations
- Experience working with REST APIs, microservices, and cloud-based architectures
- Solid understanding of software engineering principles, CI/CD, and DevOps practices
AI & Data Expertise
- Experience with machine learning frameworks or APIs (e.g., Azure AI, OpenAI, Python-based ML)
- Knowledge of AI/ML lifecycle, model deployment, and monitoring
- Experience implementing intelligent document processing, NLP, or conversational AI is an asset
- Familiarity with responsible AI, governance, and compliance considerations
Technical Skills
- Strong experience with Java, Python, or similar backend technologies
- Experience with cloud platforms (Azure preferred)
- Knowledge of database systems (SQL/NoSQL)
- Familiarity with integration patterns and enterprise architecture frameworks
Soft Skills
- Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking skills
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities
- Ability to work in a collaborative, agile environment
- Proven leadership and mentorship experience
Nice-to-have
- Appian certification(s) (e.g., Senior Developer, Lead Developer)
- Experience with RPA tools or process mining
- Exposure to gen AI use cases in enterprise environments
- Experience in financial services or insurance industry
Role profile description:
We are seeking a Senior AI Engineer with deep expertise in Appian and intelligent automation to help drive the next generation of digital capabilities. In this role, you will design, build, and scale AI-enabled solutions integrated with our Appian low-code platform, enabling business process transformation, improved customer experience, and operational efficiency.
You will work closely with cross-functional teams including product owners, architects, data scientists, and business stakeholders to deliver impactful AI-driven workflows and applications.
What you will do
- Design and develop AI-enabled applications and workflows within the Appian platform
- Integrate machine learning models, generative AI, and decisioning systems into Appian-based solutions
- Lead the development of end-to-end intelligent automation solutions (AI + BPM + RPA where applicable)
- Collaborate with business and technical stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable solutions
- Build and maintain APIs and microservices that support AI and Appian integrations
- Ensure solutions are secure, scalable, and aligned with enterprise architecture standards
- Mentor and guide junior engineers on Appian best practices and AI implementation
- Contribute to AI governance, responsible AI practices, and model lifecycle management
- Optimize system performance and continuously improve automation efficiency
- Stay current with advancements in AI, Appian capabilities, and intelligent automation tools
The pay range that the employer reasonably expects to pay for this position is between CA$80.00 and CA$100.00
