Sr. DevOps Engineer (Cloud + Systems Administration)
Job summary:
The IT Corporate Solutions Group is looking for a highly skilled individual to fill a contract Senior DevOps Engineer role for our IT for Corporate Infrastructure DevOps team. This role will focus on cloud system administration enabling solutions holistically supporting the AI Lab.

You will work closely with Enterprise Architects, Information Security and partner AI Lab team members ensure the cloud system operations and initiatives meet all organizational objectives.
As a member of this dynamic team, you will play a critical role in designing, implementing, and managing our cloud infrastructure to support the organization’s AI Lab objectives. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in AWS cloud technologies, a strong background in DevOps practices, and a passion for automation and innovation.
What you will do:
- Utilize your in-depth knowledge and expertise participating in the designing, deployment, and managing scalable, reliable, and automated cloud infrastructure solutions on cloud platforms such as AWS and Snowflake.
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize AWS cloud environments to ensure enablement, performance, security, and cost-efficiency.
- Partners on key initiatives that require interfacing with internal customers and stakeholders to gather requirements, design, plan and implement reliable and secure solutions that meet stakeholder requirements.
- Collaborate with development and cross IT functional teams to integrate and optimize cloud-based applications.
- Develop and maintain automated processes for cloud provisioning configuration, and management.
- Create and maintain documentation for cloud architectures, configurations, and processes.
- Develop and maintain automated processes for cloud provisioning, configuration, and management, particularly within the AWS and Snowflake environment.
- Possesses expert cloud system administration, containerization knowledge with the ability to independently implement complex solutions from end-to-end, troubleshoot and resolve problems.
- Combine conceptual and practical expertise in the areas of cloud infrastructure, IT architecture, scripting, continuous integration, and deployment (CI/CD), build automation, system monitoring, troubleshooting, and remediation following best practices and architecture framework.
- Stay updated emerging technologies and industry trends to identify opportunities for improvement and innovation.
- Provide technical support, triage, prioritize, track, and resolve production problems and operational issues; use analytical thinking, tools, and judgement to identify root causes and long-term solutions.
- Mentor junior colleagues and invests time to grow individuals in a technical capacity; acts as a subject matter expert to guide and share knowledge across the team.
- Communicate complex concepts and makes sure that everyone understands the message; invites varying perspectives, anticipates challenge; supports the right decision for the team once made. ? ?
What you bring: ?
- 6+ years of experience in IT Infrastructure Operations with a focus on system administration and automation
- Strong proficiency in AWS, and nice to have Snowflake, with hands-on experience in Infrastructure as Code tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible, Puppet, Chef).
- Experience with current server operating systems such as Windows Server 2019+ and Linux.
- Solid understanding of networking concepts, security principles, data protection strategies, with expertise in implementing best practices for securing cloud infrastructure.
- Ability to perform deep technical analysis and troubleshooting of systems and performance issues around cloud infrastructure.
- Familiarity and practical hands-on expertise with scripting and using languages such as Bash, PowerShell and Python to automate repetitive and administrative tasks.
- Experience in vulnerability and patch management.
- Knowledge and experience with CI/CD tooling.
- Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker and container orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically and creatively to develop resolutions
- Ability (and desire) to work in a high-performing team culture, with an openness to constantly evolving and changing priorities, and new challenges.
- Relevant certifications would be an asset.
The pay range that the employer reasonably expects to pay for this position is between CA$60.00 and CA$90.00
