Job Title: BI Engineer
Location: Toronto, ON (Remote)

What we are looking for:
As a business intelligence engineer in the data team you will partner with a team of data engineers and gain exposure to multiple high client-impact projects that are a key part of the firm’s strategic plan. You will work closely with a high performing, close-knit team to ensure a high quality and timely delivery of data across transformational initiatives. We are looking for someone passionate about using a mix of rigorous analysis, market and product data, empathy and intuition to deliver strategic reporting solutions that will transform the decision-making capabilities. This is a high impact role that is well suited to an entrepreneurial, highly collaborative person who is excited by the challenge of identifying, validating, building, and delivering new tools.

Your responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and maintain interactive reports and dashboards in PowerBI and Microstrategy
  • Translate business requirements into functional reporting solutions by collaborating with internal stakeholders across the front, middle and back office
  • Develop data models, perform data validation, and ensure high standards of data accuracy and performance
  • Ensure governance, version control, and documentation of BI assets
  • Stay up to date on industry best practices and trends, and be willing to experiment with the latest technologies to enhance user experience

Must have requirements to be successful in this role:

  • 3+ years of experience in a business intelligence, reporting, or data engineering role, ideally within the financial services or asset management industry
  • Bachelor’s or graduate degree in a relevant field (data science, computer science, mathematics, finance, business, economics, information systems) or equivalent work experience
  • Experience working in BI tools: PowerBI, Microstrategy or other
  • Have strong knowledge of data models, data types and data flows
  • Strong database knowledge and skilled in SQL
  • Knowledge of data warehouse concepts, ETL best practices, and data governance frameworks
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
  • Detail-oriented with a strong focus on data accuracy and integrity
  • Have strong analytical, problem solving, and organizational skills
  • Previous experience and an understanding of the financial services environment an asset

 

The pay range that the employer reasonably expects to pay for this position is between CA$50.00 and CA$70.00
